Witches Museum Deathclaw...cannot defeat

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2016 8:00 am

I am armored and have tried every weapon at my disposal, including multiple missiles and even a couple of Fat Man, but no luck. Any hints?

Thanks.

Go away and come back in five or eight levels. There's really nothing there you can't live without...

Anyway, set difficulty to very easy then throw some mines and grenade. how could it not die with those?

Thanks guys but I finally piled up all of my mines, about 16 in all, and that did the trick. And yeah, there's nothing but a couple of deathclaw eggs. cracked and one whole, beyond it. Thanks!

Thats not the end of the quest though. Theres a reward attached to collecting that egg. You'll get some caps and cooking recipe or a deathclaw gauntlet (non legendary). Deathclaw gauntlet is a nice weapon, especially with its mod but if you're going to try and get one you really might as well get a legendary one. Even if you miss the gauntlet here you'll still be able to pick one up from a raider berserker or (sometimes) Lefty in Parsons State Insane Asylum. For a legendary one I resorted to save scumming at Croups Manor Basemant, the railroad church or the National Guard Training Yard

I wouldn't worry about it being a spoiler that its a deathclaw though, I mean what else could it be? You pick up that holotape outside with some frightened sounding mercenaries and find one who has been torn to pieces. Not many creatures in the game will rip someone apart like that. You hear a roar on the tape and know theres not many creatures in the game that sound like that and when you're inside the museum you see shadows and hear something heavy stomping around the floor above.

You've probably already encountered at least one deathclaw in the game (Concord) so its not a huge leap of the imagination to figure out what the monster in the museum is.

At lower levels mines are probably your best bet. I've heard of people with high sneak skills being able to get past it that way. I had a maxed out sneak score and max SPECIAL and never managed to get around it even after hiding in the corner and letting it wander out of the bathroom to patrol the museum.

Why kill it? Just grab the pristine egg and get out of there!
At least, that's what I have done (three times now).
Return the egg to its nest and a new recipe for Deathclaw Omlette will appear on your menu anyway.

It would be good if Deathclaws 'recognised' you and their aggression fell following your good deed...
But I realize that might be too much to ask, heheh.
Anyway, I figure I owe the Deathclaws that much at least (following the traumatic Deathclaw debacle in New Vegas).
I actually couldn't sleep after that one.

If you are lucky between running around and getting your companion to tank for a few seconds you can defeat it.

Still if you aren't at the level where you have the combat shotgun you are probably toast.

I really hate when it pins you...sometimes if you spam stimpacks you may survive it.

A Never-Ending Plasma Rifle has worked wonders for me in that encounter. Also my Overseer's Guardian -- favourite weapon in the game. :celebrate:
