Q&A with my Elder Scrolls Character

Post » Sat Aug 27, 2011 11:53 am

so, just like the other threads, you guys will be interviewing my character, Varth. I will respond as Varth would, in yellow text. Feel free to bring your own characters in too

Name: Varth
Race: Dark Elf
Class: Assassin/Mage
Birthsign: The Thief
Backstory: Varth grew up in Morrowind, where he joined the Tribunal Temple at a young age. By the age of 40, he had ascended high into the ranks, but wanted no part in the theocratic government after discovering that the Tribunal's power is related to Dagoth Ur. Varth decided to flee the province, but his diserperance was not as crafty as he had preferred. He was branded a heretic, and Temple assassins pursue him across Tamriel, where he acquired a unique set of skills. Durring his adventures, Varth joined ranks with the thieves guild, dark brotherhood, and other various organizations

Hello, Varth. What were your duties while you were still a member of the Tribunal Temple?

When i first joined the Temple, I was tasked with completing the Seven Graces, which is an entire story in itself. I learned many skills, skills which i use today to stay alive. Anyways, once i was of a high enough rank, I became an active librarian of the Hall of Wisdom. I loved looking after all the books, reading all I could, taking in the scent of aged parchment... i deter from the question again. I kept the library in line, and was in charge of finding new volumes for the stacks. Any books found of purification missions throughout Vvardenfell were given directly to me, in addition to any books my team of adventures found. I was also an avid alchemist at the time. I preformed a few other tasks for the temple hierarchy, but I prefer not to speak of those.

I am currently ninety-three years old, which is roughly middle aged for a Dumner like myself.

I came into contact with the Thieves Guild while trying to hide among the populace of the Imperial City. I tried to cut a purse from a rich noble (by this time, all of the morals i had acquired in Morrowind had been [censored] away by the knowledge that my gods were fake and my brothers and I had been committing crimes against nature), failed, and was promptly thrown into prison. My cellmate was a young Bosmer named Meldor. He and I bonded quite nicely together, and I quickly discovered, after a session of story swapping, that he was preforming his initiation test for entry to a guild of thieves. We quickly joined forces, and devised a plan. He unlock the cell door with a lockpick he had hidden in his breeches, and I used illusion magic to trick the guard into the cell, and to hand over the keys. We locked him in our cell, and snuck out of the facility, and back to the Thieves Guild Head Quarters in the waterfront district. Meldor earned his position, as did I...

What was your hardest contract with the Dark Brotherhood?

My most difficult contract? Oh, ive had several difficult ones... but most difficult... I would have to say it was the time I was assigned to kill an Argonian warlord. It was a hellish trek through the swamps of Blackmarsh, a trek that nearly claimed my life three times over. Once i had finally penetrated the thick jungle and bog, I found myself needing to infiltrate a massive structure crafted from a hollowed out tree. The roots and limbs seemed to congregate together to form rooms and chambers. Fascinating, really. It was a good deal of fun climbing the branches, and jumping to and fro, while trying to to remain undetected. I had made in deep into the tree-fort, where the warlord lay when I was finally discovered. Long story short, I able to dispatch the warlord and his guards, but not easily. I was severely wounded, and barely made it out alive. Thank Deadra and Divines for my skills in Alchemy and Illusion.
