1H or 2H with my Magic build?

Post » Wed Jun 12, 2013 8:01 pm

I'm playing a Battlemage and currently am using One Handed + Spells. Would I benefit from 2H as well? The reason I ask is because I use Conjuration, Alteration, Restoration and Enchanting. My spells aren't like Destruction where I'm constantly holding down a key to attack. I have it on the PC so I can hotkey each item/spell and switch easily. What do you recommend?

If you use those skills, use two-handed

Thanks. I think it would be best to cast a summon, a buff, and heal by dual casting if it gets difficult.

Except one handed being more stylish with a spell in off-hand, you have no reason not to use two handed. You can easily hotkey back to spells to rebuff, and your damage output will be significantly bigger. You can also take the dual-wield perks for the spells to make 'em stronger.

It would feel incredibly awkward, having to switch out a two-handed weapon and a flesh spell or healing spell every time. Trust me, I've been there: sometimes, it took several seconds for my Dovahkiin to remember that his greatsword is hanging behind his back, before he takes it out. Those several seconds usually means a lot of backing up and getting set on fire.

I am a second supporter of Two Handed. Casting a Flesh Spell, casting an Atronach before wading into to the opponents is a very viable playstyle. When the opponents nearby have been defeated then dual cast Healing Spells.

I say two-handed also,it's really not hard to switch between spells and two-handed weapons.

Plus with two-handed you can easily have two spells equipped at one time or dual cast if the need be.

My main character IS there, It feels perfectly fine.

Trust me, I use this kind of build with No Armor, No Defense spells, No HUD, on Master (don't got Legendary yet)

2H is the most efficient for sure; overpowered really. I've always wanted to do a dual enchanted dagger build but it's so hard to get started. With 2H, you just dominate right from the beginning.

One-handed. It takes waaaaay too long to change between two-handed weapons and spells in a fight. Especially if you're playing on Legendary.

I would stick to one-handed and spell. But you could do two handed, especially if you plan to use melee most of the time, leaving in-fight heals to potions and buff up between fights, and use conjuration to summon minions between fights.
