Wizardry 8 has Skyrim Dragon Language Symbols

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:21 pm

When we first saw the dragon language, I couldn't place it, but I had thought I had seen that before. Sure enough, I stumbled across it today. In the Rapax castle of Wizardry 8, 5 to 6 symbols that cover the walls, are identical to the ones that are the dragon language in Skyrim. The symbols don't represent anything in Wizardry 8, but I found it pretty cool that whoever developed the language took something old school and brought it into Skyrim. Just thought I'd share.

Can you show us two pictures where there are the same symbols? This is cool, but I would love to see it myself. (Not sure what to google search. :/)

Both devs may have pulled from the same reference? I find it had to believe that Bethesda would rip off of someone else.. lol

Give me a sec to get my party back there and figure out how to take a screen shot. They are identical. It's in the first Rapax place you come to, before the compound. Where the queen is.

Ok, my party is looking at the symbols, but how do you take a screenshot of these old games? Does anyone know? I know it's possible, they're on youtube. I've googled it, but can't find out. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried the "Print Screen" button in the upper right corner of your keyboard? After you click it, go to MS Paint or something and just press Ctrl+V and that should get a screenshot.

Thank you so much for your help. Not often I do this. I have saved one of the pics in paint. How do I insert the file into the post?

First off, a big thank you for those that gave me a hand. I finally got it, but was lost without your help.

By my count, there's 5 or 6 in this picture. If they aren't exact, they are really, really close.

Nice find.
Of course, don't be too surprised. They are pretty simple straight line marks, so its not unreasonable for them to be thought up by others.
Still, nice find

Well there's only so much you can do with three scrath marks and ticks. It has to be a coincidence.

Similiar

Not identical though. I think more likely that the both of these writings are based on the same concept. A creature without thumbs creates a language how does it write it? With claw marks that's how.

You would think so, but I'm telling you, when you walk around this area, it so closely resembles the dragon language, I can't imagine it's coincidence. Several are exact and some are just real close or the mirror image of a symbol. Plus, in different areas, there are different symbols, but in every area you can tie them back to the dragon language. Crazy right? If the design was similar, I'd agree with you 100%, or maybe if there was one or two. But there are several. I can post more pics, just dont' want to bore folks with it.
