Are there short swords in Skyrim? I haven't seen any in any gameplay videos.

Weren't short swords and long swords scrapped? Might be wrong, but all of the swords i've seen in the game look medium length.

Well I saw an "imperial sword" or whatever its name was in the Quakecon demo. It looked like a Roman gladius so we know there is at least one short sword.

There were short swords and long swords in oblivion. There just wasn't a separate skill for them. So short swords and long swords in Skyrim isn't farfetched.

I think in medieval times they look at the size of your arm and distance from you shoulder to the floor to decide which was long or short for the user

Meh. I'm not sure, but I use axes so, I don't really care. :P

We do know, however, that there are Daggers. Confirmed. So there are at least "swords" and "daggers".

The sword the thief was using in the demo sure looked like a short sword to me, unless daggers are much larger now.

I've actually seen a few decidedly short-swords, but they might be the exceptions. (Imperial Sword comes to mind) For a fully realized category, there may not be. Which actually I'm not particularly torn up about as long as the existing "Short" sword options are comparable to Longswords. If anything, it looks like the weapon direction is heading towards Morrowind's style. While there really was a "Longsword" for each base material, there wasn't a Shortsword, broadsword, cutlass or Katana for all materials. I'm fine with that, for example, you wouldn't expect to see a Dwemer Sabre or a Glass Broadsword.

There is no longer "Shortswords" or "Longswords", it is not simply called "Sword".

Yes, But they don't have their own category, There are just different sized swords in the game but they are all in the same category

I think the name is scrapped, but you can still have shorter and longer swords.

If they have daggers that also fall into the 'Blade' skill (like in OB) I would assume short sword could do the same.

Every one-handed blade is just a "sword" now, or so we've seen. Some differ in size and length. The Glass Sword is the shortest sword I've seen.

I think there are swords. And with the awesome new smithing system you can decide on the length.
