Wolfhorn Ranch

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 2:43 am

Apparently according to the wiki, Ulysses owns it. I was wondering where they got that information? Because it might be kind of weird especially since my main character had been living out of the ranch for a long time. If this information is correct then it might also shed some light into the relationship between the Courier and Ulysses as there is a grave there with flowers. Maybe the Courier killed someone Ulysses loved or something.

Anyways thoughts?

Ulysses was suppose to be in the main game.

I wondered that too...but apparently in some foreign language versions it's called Ulysses's ranch...

Well it was a little confusing for me. Since in the main game there is almost no talk of Ulysses.

Well thats all based on stuff cut from the final product so wether its still valid or not is going to depend on what we learn in OWB an LR, still I wonder how different Ulysses is from the original companion concept.

Ulysses and the courier were apparently in a relationship which went wrong in the worst way and the ending says the courier cheated death twice, also Legate Lanius says there were two bullet scars on the courier head. possibly the grave is the couriers because Jonathan Nash says when Ulysses saw the couriers name on the list asked if the courier was really still alive. meaning he possibly shot the courier in the head and left thinking the courier was dead and the grave was probably the couriers.

If this ^ is true in some way, does that mean Victor had nothing better to do other than follow the courier around and dig 'em out of graves. Who recused the courier from this grave ?

I don't think you and I understand the end sequence in the same way. IIRC it says "The courier who cheated death in the cemetery outside of Goodsprings, cheated death once again, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed." I believe that means that the courier cheated death in the battle at Hoover Dam, not that he cheated death even before Goodsprings

Maybe the Courier killed someone Ulysses loved? A brother or sister maybe?

Seems like something that could fit into any player, male or female, good or evil.

Actually Meghan if you check the courier's bio on wiki you find out that he has two head wounds or scars...one is from benny...how, when, why, and who gave him the other is not known...

How do you know that Benny didn't shoot him square in the face twice? Benny tried very hard to kill the Courier, I'd be surprised if he had the other scar from a previous time...and if that did happen why wouldn't that doctor jerk comment on the healed scar tissue?

Benny only shot the Courier once, if you watch the beginning cutscene you'd see that. So the other could have come from Ulysses or the numerous other times the Courier has been shot in the head on his journey. Come on I know everyone at some point has had their head crippled in the game.

I recall in the development they mentioned that the courier was shot in the head twice, and there are still references to it in game. It's possible that they changed it to one shot but some references to being shot twice remained. If so, it is a bit sloppy. It's also possible that the intro is supposed to be from the Courier's point of view, so we hear one shot and the courier's out, but Benny shoots again and we don't see it. If you notice, the intro does switch from 3rd person to 1st person for the rest of the cinematic.

This.

There have been times when cut content wasn't cut entirely... ^_^

I just find it hard to believe that he got shot in the head (story wise, you obviously don't get bullet wounds from unremarkable encounters in this game) twice and survived both without him being an android...and we know he's not....it had to be from the Benny shot.

I still think that one is from Ulysses himself because Johnson Nash said that he asked if the Courier was still alive.
