Woman protagonist in F4 trailers?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 3:31 am

As long as people don't discriminate then alls good ;) I for one am not the child-bearing, care-giving type. I'm career-focused and love what most consider 'boyish' things. Not all people are the same and that's the beauty of life. :P

Trust me too, I know that very well. Logic and facts don't work in that field, unfortunately.

MRA's didn't boycott Mad Max. That was a BS rumor thrown around after Aaron Clarey, a non-MRA who works for a non-MRA writing website, said not to watch it. Feminists just assumed he must be an MRA because he didn't like a film with a strong female character and then tossed around that there was a boycott by the Men's Right's Movement.

People can choose whatever they want. One of my problems with feminism though is that they bash anyone who doesn't identify as one of them or live a progressive lifestyle. Some women like staying at home and taking care of children and some don't.

No.

And given that, and that all their games (apart from http://uesp.net/wiki/Redguard:Redguard, a TES series spin-off) have had completely free character customization, i think it's absurd to think there'll be a fixed player character just because a man, who may may not be the player character said one phrase.

Remember, the best way to predict future behavior is past behavior

Well, lets examine this shall we? The military wont allow women to serve on the front lines of a conflict. Why? Because when a man sees a woman the first thing he doesnt want to think is how she could kill him with one punch. Is it morally right to dress women up as killing machines? I dont think so personally. There are women out there a lot smarter than some men why cant they just be happy they aren't stuck in the kitchen anymore? I'm not saying they need to be portrayed as six objects but why do they feel the need to be equally capable of violence?

If I were part of the US military and fought side-by-side with a woman, I'm not gonna think how she'd kill me in all different ways why? Because we'd be on the same side. That's kind of what the military teaches you: your fellow brothers and sisters in arms are all in this with you. Watch their backs and they'll watch yours and all that stuff.

The rest of this, I've no idea what you're talking about so for the love of Gob, stop. You're making a fool of yourself.

Companies don't spend millions on marketing based on 'preconceived opinions'. By means of focus groups, test markets, anolysis of the marketing results of other products and other techniques they know what works best.

.

Feminism is the idea that we can make both sixes equal by focusing solely on the rights of one of them.

Nuff said. True feminism should be egalitarian, this modern feminism is nothing but fascism.

Wait, wait, are we talking about feminism in the 'WE HATE MEN' sense, or the 'women can, and are, just as capable as men.' because I'm getting mixed signals here.

@OP

I think the character creation will be free like in Skyrim and Fallout 3.

I think the guy in the trailer is the generic protagonist like the Fus-ro-dah guy, and the voice that said "let's go pal" means nothing more than fus-ro-dah.

I would like to see a female trailer, sure, why not. My first character is most likely caucasian female.

I am too. Two dudes agree that nothing good will come from talking about feminism, and then proceed to bring up feminism in their next posts. I'm having trouble passing the logic.

Back on topic: Hope fully we'll get confirmation of playable female characters at E3. If we don't, I'm not buying the game any time soon.

You do realize that not every feminist hate men and all that, right? There are plenty of female gamers who don't mind male protagonists, they just want more female protagonists IN ADDITION to the male protagonists. Y'know, diversify the crowd and all that. And for a game company like Bethesda who prides itself on its character creation and their 'be whatever you want to be' mantra, it's patently stupid that we only see the white male dude. We should be seeing 111 Vault Dweller as all the genders and races Fallout has to offer. Ditto for The Elder Scrolls. I mean, for God's sake, this isn't Rockstar where you're stuck playing a white guy whether you like it or not.

<-- Speaking as a white, cisgendered, heterosixual male.

I'm always up for a good discussion. People on here seem reasonable enough, so I'm interested in hearing what they have to say. Is that a problem?

Nope. Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim all had white male protagonists in the trailers, yet they all gave you the choice of race and gender in the game. Which makes it funny everyone's assuming that Fallout 4's trailer means you can only play as a white male. Bethesda hasn't made an RPG in their 20+ years of making games that denied you the choice of race or gender, they won't start now. Sad to see how quickly some folks are to throw them under the bus with no precedent

I dont understand your killing in one punch thing? I always thought women werent in the front lines because men have instinct to rescue a women in trouble with out thinking of the situation. But I dont really get why women want to be in the military in the first place?

*sigh* Can we please keep all this political correctness BS out of this? It's a friggin game and you've been able to play male or female in TES and Fallout forever. What does it matter??

I do realize that. I'm all for true feminism(notice "true").

I just feel that a company shouldn't be pressured into changing things just to accommodate someone else who may be "offended" or because "Political correctness", especially not since there are reasons why it's always a male protagonist in the trailers(I think we discussed that already). As long as you can choose a male or a female IN the game, I see no problem.

It's not so much wanting to be in the military. Many men don't want to be either, but have a duty to be. Women just don't want their options limited if it is something they decide to do with their lives. You shouldn't be told "No, you can't do that" based solely on what you're born with when you are more than capable of doing the job.

It doesn't matter :) People just wanted to know why there arnet female protagonists in the trailers. Doesn't bother me as long as I get to choose in-game.
