I myself am male, 27 and having a baby in April. I forsee a lot of changes in my life, but gaming being a passion of mine, that will not change. I won't let anyone tell me it's for kids, or too childish, or is making me an irresponsible parent, because I game instead of watching tv, and I am entitled to entertainment as much as anybody else.
Congrats!
And I look at it this way: gaming, at its least complex and challenging, is comparable to an interactive movie - it still requires more user input, choice, and engagement than television, which as a pastime is almost universally seen as acceptable for people of all ages. And at its most engaging, gaming can be part of an extremely creative and satisfying hobby; I've learned and improved many computer, art and writing skills as a direct result of playing RPGs.
Gaming is also, in many cases, non-competitive - which means people of all physical and mental abilities, as well as ages and genders, can enjoy and challenge themselves in games on an even footing. And that's a really nice thing.
