Women over 30 and Skyrim

Post » Sat Nov 20, 2010 7:48 pm

I'm a woman, 32 years now and I got a profession in law but do this only part-time at the moment. About ten years ago I loved to play RPGs, especially TES: Morrowind including the addons. Later, I tried Oblivion and I was stoked. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to play a lot.

Now, that I hear that Skyrim is going to be released, I feel myself pulled back ten years, getting excited again like as I was ten years younger, lol! :liplick:

I know that nowadays, most of the players are male and I think they're in their 20's or so.
What do you guys think? I'm going to be 33 soon...Is it kinda weird that somebody like me really want to dive into another world like Skyrim again?

Can't wait for this game!

It's not weird to like the game even though you're over 30. I've seen people here who are RETIRED and yet they play the games.

I'm 26 now and will STILL be playing games in my 30s. I plan to be like the blond in The Guild who just puts her kids in a playpen and puts them in another room. ;)

In another game, I raid with a lady whose grandkids are also in the guild. She's a way better player than they are. Only one on the raid team.

I think its great that anyone is able to enjoy the elder scrolls series and that its not restricted to a certain age group :D you are one cool mama though, I wish my mum would play the elder scrolls games! haha.

32? Even though I'm 19 myself, I can tell ya that is not old for a gamer at all, male or female. Where I go to school we have lots of 30-40 year old (prolly 50%) and they enjoy games as much as anyone.

Oh and even though I'm not female, I can tell ya I'll be playing games till I die (if possible).. I don't see why age would limit you *shrug*

It's certainly not weird. I'm not a follower of the "you're too old/you're the wrong gender to do this" mind frame. If you enjoy it do it!* That's what I say :foodndrink:

*As long as you are not hurting anyone obviously :P

Not at all. I think many people in general don't really see what a game series like TES has to offer them. If you want to get fully immersed in the world of TES and have a good time, more power to you.

Lol. I think it is something about the fact that when I was growing up the first real computer games started to show up...I had a Commodore 64, later an Amiga 500/2000, then a PC. RPGs were just part of my life. And that didn't change.

Well I always knew that women played videogames aswell, but I never knew that there were so many dedicated female elder scrolls fans. That′s a good sign, reflects the quality of the games.

you should add a "I don't care" answer in your poll.

Do whatever you want, it's your life.
Actually, I don't even see what's wrong with that and I'm really trying to guess why you even ask.

I think a lot oldschool TES fans are older than the "normal" game player age.
I myself am 27, and probably still be playing games (especially TES) when I'm 80 (If I still live than).

TES was always one of my favorites and I think many other females share my view. It's just that feeling of being in vast free world with beautiful views and so many opportunities.

Lol...yes, I remember that scene. But since I'm almost 5'9, Eomer surely won't mistake me for a Hobbit!

I know I do! :P Not 30 yet, but I have no intention to stop gaming as I get older - hobbies and interests are a great thing. My Mum thinks gaming is for kids and I should've grown out of it (I'm 23), but she goes fishing, and I'd rather spend a day defeating legendary creatures and toppling Gods than trying to outwit a fish.

As one who belongs to the dreadfully ordinary "20-something male" category, I fully acknowledge, respect and endorse 30-something female TES fans. Go girls!

But I voted normal, because I tend not to distinguish much between the genders. And it's not like "over 30" is old.
