Won't Launch.

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 12:35 pm

Upon starting up the game I get half a second of of one of the SPECIAL clips or the please stand by screen, then the screen goes black and it crashes to desktop without error.

Operating System
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
CPU
AMD FX-8350
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 722MHz
Graphics
2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series x2
Should run perfectly fine with my specs in the mid range graphics settings so the hell is this about exactly? Incompatibility?

Not really up for waiting several more hours or days for a game I paid to play on release, need this sorted. On my end or on yours.

For a work around, have you tried Windowed Mode?

I have the same issue and I've tried it in windowed mode, windowless mode and everything from low quality to the ultra it automatically set me on. It still crashes 2 seconds into the "Please Wait" loading screen when I boot up the game.

Edit: Update

Alright just after I posted I had just finished running the AMD auto update detector to see if everything was up to date it detected one update needed and after it installed I can now play the game. So if anyone else is having this issue try this... (even if you've recently updated as mine had and I assumed I didn't need an update)

If you have AMD, run the auto updater and make sure everything is up to date driver wise.

Everything updated, and still getting the crash. So somewhere there is still a "hickup". I downloaded it Via Steam. Could there be a dissonance there?

Same problems as above. Tried it all...

Bordered, borderless, windowed. Updated drivers. Reinstalled the game. With and without the beta patch.

Game is OFFICIALLY released! we NEED a fix for the problem! I took the day off from work to play the game and right now I am sitting on my chair wasting time and money on NOTHING.

Atleast tell us your working on a solution for the issue?! Be it in steam or Bethesda. Really hard for a child to wait til christmas morning only to be told there arnt any pressents >.>

THIS SHOULD FIX YOUR ISSUE

?Okay so if you game crashes on Launching the game;

Here might be a fix, if your using AMD, update the drivers to the latest BETA driver, then goto AMD control Panel (you may be using 1 or more Screen's) After going to the AMD control center, click Desktop Management > Creating and Arranging Desktops > 1 by 1 make each f them Primary.

Example make one primary, test game, doesn't work move on to next one.

Hope this help's, this has helped me and 2 others since i found this out!

Win8 and AMD. Worked for me with the beta driver. But Bethesda should not tell people to use the autodetectutility from AMD as it dosnt install the beta but the last finished version (and that dosnt work)

Also with the newest driver the game told me it would run on medium. With the beta driver I can enter the game and run it on Ultra high with no lag.

I am not using the Beta driver and the game works for me. Different systems, different driver needs.

I had this issue, uninstalled Catalyst Control Center, not the driver, just the control center and it now works like a charm.
