Won't recieve ''The Gift'' (Vampire Spouse)

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 1:28 pm

I won't recieve ''The Gift'' quest from Vingalmo (The quest that allows you to turn your spouse into a vampire) I married AFTER I had completed the Dawnguard questline (on the volkihar side of course) and I′ve done around 45-60 side quests for the Volkihar Clan. However, Vingalmo never gives me the spouse quest and I′ve even tried reloading several times, but I′m still geting nothing..
My spouse is Camilla, the riverwood trader girl.

How the hell can I fix this? Since I play on PC, are there any console commands?

I have the same problem on Xbox, I've got 3 different saves with 3 different wives an I never get this quest, done lots of radiant quests ect tried the reloading stuff bla bla still nothing, wedding ring on an off nothing.

I heard a rumour that its only a few selected wife's that can activate this quest due to the dialogue change where they couldn't get the old actors/voices to come back for dawnguard. If anyone can confirm this I dunno or confirm the selected wife's, other then that it probably is completely bugged.

Yes, only spouses of certain voice types can be turned into vampires. If you've heard that particular voice from Dawnguard-added NPCs, and your spouse has that voice, you can turn them into a vampire.

Camilla should be applicable. I trust you don't have any mods active that affect marriage?

I have no mods on any saves at all, also I tried camilla she was the second wife but no luck with her.

I think vingalmo just bugs out very quick an very often., especially with giving you the same person to turn over an over forcing you to reload

Just to let ya know I've done another save with ysolda as my wife and it worked it was the second radiant quest.

So far it's been confirmed that ysolda, mjoll, house Carl's aka Lydia ect work too.

The werewolfs don't for obvious reasons.

Couldn't get it to work for camilla.

Not sure on who else can accept the give but it's very time consuming lol.

Hopefully more people can confirm some wife's.

And I hope this helped a bit :)

Camilla does work. She was the very first spouse I was able to change. As far as I can tell, Brelyna Maryon shares the exact same voice and can be turned as well. I can confirm that Jenassa does not though.

Does anyone know if Onmund can be turned?

I have also never gotten this quest but I do tend to marry Onmund on most playthroughs.

The quest is randomly generated. How many playthroughs have you done on the Vampires side that also included a marriage with Onmund? Given your post, it seems to me like it is several. If you have not received any offerings for the quest on any of those playthroughs at least once, my guess is he is not among those that can be turned.

There is nothing preventing Onmund from being turned.

If, over the course of the expansion, you hear a particular voice, and your spouse has that voice as well, they can be turned.

I know I have married Muiri on several characters and never once got "The Gift" for Muiri.

So I'm going to have to say that Muiri is not on the short list of candidates...

There should be an official list on who can be turned lol

They have a list you can find online of all the marriageable, I would assume someone would look through the code and find out who can be turned.

I'm also pretty sure (from many play-throughs) that Jenassa cannot be turned either...
