Alienware svcks, (no offense). You could build a computer so much better then that.

Look into MSi or Asus laptops if you ask me, IF you are looking for a laptop.

Alienware is owned by Dell... that should say it all.

Otherwise build a desktop for much cheaper and better.

You can build a PC that is better and cheaper than anything Alienware has to offer. You just have to know what to look for. I would ask the big PC guys here for specifics as ive been out of the loop for far too long. Also if your looking for gaming, I wouldn't go for a laptop as hey are harder to build/upgrade and can be pretty expensive.

I don't know how to build them either. But my Dad does, and he's going to help me. I'm pretty sure you can go a shop for help. Alienware isn't horrific you could just buy a better or same computer for a better price if you build it yourself.

edit: Also, the reason I say Alienware isn't that good, is because my brothers Alienware laptop broke.

OP you might be better off finding a local computer store(not a major chain like Futureshop or Walmart or anything, lol) because theyre usually pretty good. At least the ones Ive been into are.

Kinda weird, youd think thered be more than just a couple (HP, Dell) desktop companies. I was looking at the Dell XPS "performance" desktops on their website the other day and they look good for gaming on paper but my only concern would be the cooling...

Wow kids these days don't know how to google?

Anyways, building a computer is actually quite simple, and honestly its all down to knowing what parts you want, and how they fit together.

Basic components you'll need:

Case (Full, Mid, and micro)
Motherboard (again same sizes as the case)
Processor, must match your motherboard. Newegg usually sells these as Combos
RAM
Video Graphics Card (usually best to have it correspond to the graphical chipset on your mobo in cases of future expansion of cards)
HDD
Optical Drive
Operating System
Power Supply (take into account your Video Card as you will need a minimum wattage power supply to actually run it.)
I/O Devices (mouse, keyboard, monitor, anything else you might want thats an I/O device)

Other extras include SSD, Cooling System, Sound System, etc etc etc.

I would suggest newegg.com for the buying of your parts, or Fry's Electronic's Warehouse if there is one near where you live as their techs could assist you in buying what you need.

@ Achromatis - There are several companies that build desktops specifically for gaming (iBuyPower comes to mind) , but again you could build cheaper.

From past experience, you can build a computer that as good as an AlienWare for around 800 bucks. That's just what I've heard.

Exactly its all form, no function.

You could custom build your own case that looks better than what they have anyways (though that takes creativity and time... both which I don't have)
