Word Walls: Translated

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:55 am

Not sure if this is interesting to anyone, or if it's part of the official strategy guide or anything - but I couldn't find translations for the word walls online.
Luckily, there are almost complete dictionaries on several wikis, so I got to translate most of the walls I transcribed during my playthroughs. 3-4 might be missing, though.

Jaw dropped.

I didn't even occur to me they'd go to the effort of making it translatable beyond a symbol for each word in powers.

That is excellent.

Excellent work, but the either need to get rid of the "no spoilers" policy or start inforcing it.

Excellent work, but the either need to get rid of the "no spoilers" policy or start inforcing it.

As spoilers go, this is both too mild -- and too awesome -- to merit enforcement action.

Plus the subject line is clear enough that the content should not surprise anyone.

So...so basically dragons are like this:

2. Build stone to commemorate event.

The Word Walls were raised by Nords. The Nords copied the language and the script, but it's clearly chiseled rather than scratched.

The draconic writing is supposed to be composed of claw scratches, with the round holes representing where a thumb was pressed in.

The title of the forum is cheats, hints and spoilers. Why does anyone worried about spoilers come here? I see many posts complaining about it and frankly, the only one to blame is the person looking. Not the poster.

Also, I "briefly" looked through the sticky of this forum and found nothing about a spoiler policy. Where is it?

Pretty cool stuff here.

For clarification since I'm not on the up and up with the lore. The Nords created these word walls in the dragon language to serve as 'tombstones' essentially, the player finds these walls and learns the word (and the power beind the word) as he/she approaches it? Is it safe to say the Nords didn't really realize what they were doing when they made these walls? The fact the the player, as Dragonborn, actually derives knowledge from these is purely coincidence and a lucky one at that?

Not only is this the most badass post on the forums right now, dude you need to submit this to UESP. That's awesome. It would be better if you had a catalog of where each one was, and what the shout was that it went into.

Fantastic job though.

You guys do realize that he just copied this straight out of the strategy guide right? He didn't do this himself.

I mean, awesome job transferring it but there is literally a page dedicated to this exact thing in the guide.

Yep, I was translating them but gave up when I found that out. :/
