Workbench items not linking to each settlement properly

Hi there, I was completely freaking out when I looked at my sanctuary settlement workbench inventory to find a lot of my best weapons missing, I already had figured out that not any random workbench you find is linked to your settlements workbench and lost a bunch of stuff but for some reason the same is happening with actual settlements that you have claimed for example I was completely past my weight limit and walked for miles just to store things in the workbench at Nordhagen beach then fast traveled to sanctuary where I have a place I store special items but when I went there none of the things I stored in the workbench at the beach were there so I created a supply line to see if that would make a difference but but still no luck.

I was also hoping in a patch we could get an icon to show workbenches that we have stuff stored in so that if this happens we can easily find them and especially for the ones that are not a part of settlements, I was close to starting a new game when I realised how much I have lost due to stupidly storing junk and weapons in random workbenches. I was lucky to find one of them again at fort Hagen and retrieved my items in the bench there.

I understand that was my own wrong doing to leave them there but there is obviously an issue with the settlement benches not showing us things stored between each settlement and yes the beach is mine as I done the quest and can build there so if it was not a settlement that I owned I would not be able to create supply lines or build anything for that matter.

Ok after looking again it seems that none of the items stores at any of my settlements can be accessed via any of the other workbenches.

I was sure there was something I read or was described in game that if you store items in workbenches they can be accessed at any other workbench as long as you have control of that settlement well this is not the case for me as I decided to go round each settlement and each one has it's own different items instead of them being shared.

I don't know if this is something changed in an update or something but I am positive before I could store all junk at say Sanctuary and then those items would be available for building at another settlement, the same goes with weapons and mods but now everything is each to its own settlement which obviously makes things a lot harder.

Please can we have it so anything stored at one settlement is accessible at every other settlement or it's just a lot of work having to go between each one to see if one of the many has copper or an item you may need.

That was never the case the only thing shared between settlements with a supply line are raw materials. This svcks especially if you want all the excess stuff your settlement produces (caps, crops, water, and junk). You have to go around to all your settlements to collect these yourself. My problem with this system is that you can't break down junk through the workbench itself until you need it. Unless you go the hard route and drop all the junk on the ground and scrap them through the build menu. You should invest in that perk that lets you fast travel even when overweight.

Another thing I think svcks is you can't get mods from guns when u scrap them an there is no option to remove ones you have created and use them on another weapon. I hope they change this!

? Yes you can. If you want to move a mod between 2 same type weapons (ie: 2 laser rifles or 2 power fist), all you do is go to a crafting table and go to the weapon that has the mod. Select the part that has the mod (ie: scope) and change that to none or the basic model. The mod will then be removed and placed in your character's inventory under mods. You can now apply this mod to the same type of weapon. When you get higher up in level vendors around the commonwealth start selling mods outright as well.

Yeah weapons and items aren't transferable between workbenches with supply lines only materials(materials will only show up in build mode as well, not actually in the workbench inventory). Also I'd recommend storing stuff like that in separate containers, I have had random things disappear from workbenches but not regular created containers. Another recommendation would be to have a single settlement be YOUR home and have containers in your home to store random stuff you want to keep.

And to the guy that said mods can't be transfered. Yes they absolutely can be. You just have to switch to a different mod such as the standard/none option and the mod that was attached will go into your inventory allowing it to be put on another weapon/armor of the same type.
