World Eating

Okay, so I'm confused about this whole World Eating thing. I re read The Seven Fights of The Aldudagga, and it's obvious that Alduin eats Nirn in the Dawn Era, but how can this be? It doesn't make any sense...

Thats the mystery of Skyrim, and imo the plot of the MQ. Alduin "ate" the old world to create a new one, and now he is back. But why? and why now? the other mystery is how we defeat him, just like how we dont know how man before did.

I doubt I am fully correct but I agree, its a bit confusing :)

I'm pretty sure that this time he's just trying to escape his Nirn-shaped prison. Lorkhan trapped him there with the rest of the Aedra, and I'd be pretty peeved if that happened to me too. Though they did already rip up Lorkhan, so revenge is kinda done...

Yeah, thing is though if he ate the world in the Dawn Era, wouldn't that just reset time so that there would be a new Dawn and the cycle would repeat itself over and over thus not getting any further than the Dawn era. Yet here we are in the 4th era.
