World Space Navmeshing

Post » Sun Nov 23, 2014 11:15 am

I'm starting the navmeshes for a small world space and I have a few questions.

1. When lining up the navmesh vertices in each cell is it critical that they line up perfectly or is there a little leeway? The reason I ask is just for the sake of efficiency (and sanity).

2. Does the navmesh for water need to go to the bottom of the cell or just on top and marked as water?

3. If I do the critical areas by hand, is it possible to do the out lying areas by auto generating without effecting the areas I have done by hand?

4. Is there anyway to generate navmesh for individual cells or just the entire Worldspace?

For #1 you just need to get them close there is leeway.

#2 Can't say I've done any under water, but I think it's on the bottom (what I would lean towards plus a quick CK check of vanilla should answer that).

#3 & #4 The couple of world spaces I did I hand placed the whole lot, took about 2 weeks (8 hours a day) but I got a good mesh.
