Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:04 am

ok so a few days ago, my friends were saying there would be a nuclear war in the future, but my cousin doubts it, cuz it would be stupid. Do you think there will be a WW 3?

I'd vote "maybe" if you gave the option.

The world state of affairs is pretty messed up, but is about 50-50 for a WWIII, perhaps less. If it did start, I'm placing my bets on the middle east as the initial spark. However, it's unlikely to be a nuclear war unless some nation gets the idea that it would be the best way to win it, despite aggrivating nuclear aggression from other nations. That's the thing most people don't realize about nuclear weaponry: everyone wants one, but almost nobody wants to use one.

On one hand: Humans do have this overwelming urge to kill each other. (yeah, I'm a cynic, so sue me).

On the other hand, Humans have this overwelming urge to make money, and thanks to an interconnected world any war is going to do a lot of damage to the economy. I know China is often portrayed as a potential boogeyman in a future conflict, but look at what it would cost, China would lose their factory's customers (and not all of those factorys can be turned to weaponry... They're very specialised), and the US would lose its source of cheap production.

In the short to mid term, its not something I think we have to worry about.

Anyway, Isnt this getting to political for here?

I'd vote "maybe" if you gave the option.

Its a tick box poll, just vote yes AND no.

not nuclear,but yes.

Why not nuclear? The cold war was the closest we've ever been to World War III, and that was nuclear driven.

I'd say it's inevitable. Sooner or later, there's going to be another war. Maybe in 10 years, maybe 100, but it probably will happen.

It's inevitable. But with the globalization of today, I would think it would not be a Nation vs a Nation, but Nation vs Organization (Terrorist, Economic Power (Corporation), etc, like NOD vs GDI of Command and Conquer).

If it's nation Vs. Orginization, then we're all but there. Al-Quada has made it clear that they'll target all non-arab nation, as well as arab nation that bend to the wishes of non-arab states.

I think its possible, but not on a scale the size of WW2 or any other major World War was. I think that if WW3 does come, it may have the possible use of nuclear weapons, but I think that it will revolve around the Middle East, with China and the US fighting for the Oil. Europe will fall into chaos over rising oil prices, and the lack of resources available to them. Africa will continue fighting over what resources they have, and possibly be invaded by European countries (very doubtful), and South America will fight one another over political parties. While here in Australia, we'll take New Zealand and New Guinea by annexation.
