I have begun making a worldspace for the next mod i am working on and have a question i need answered. How do i limit the number of cells across my worldspace will be? for example when i created the worldspace it was about 11 cells by 11 cells i want to make the worlspace no more then 30 cells bby 30 cells how do i make sure the number of exterior cells will cap out at the amount i want.

Well if your just making each cell one at a time by hand, what happens is when you move the camera into an edge cell, it creates a new row of cells on that edge of your worldspace. So as long as you just never move the camera into the 30th row of cells it wont make any more. If you are usually heightmap editor, I think it automatically makes 64x64 cells. You could possibly chop this down to 30x30 using FO3Edit but I am not sure if that would work well, and without issues.

Is there a way to apply a specific texture for the ground to my entire worldspace without having to do each cell in the landscape editor? I want to set a base texture of the grass but then when i actually do all landscaping of the cells i'll change the texture as needed for places like the river or two i'll have running through the land and some other areas.

Not without using the region editor. Just make your worldspace, and before you work on an area, use the grass texture and make the brush size like 20 or as big as it will go (I dont remember) then cover a huge area around where u are working, then recover it as needed, removing the grass texture that you had placed.

the worldspace i am working on is mostly going to rolling foothills tapering off into flat land around the towns that will be in it. what do i have to do to setup the boundary of where the explorable are of the worldspace will? i will place some bigger hills around hte edge as i think it would look really stupid to box in an area that is just slightly hilly with big mountains as I want to keep the general look of the landscape through out the worldspace

I remember just a few days ago someone was saying this would be done by going into the cells that are supposed to be the border (right clicking them inthe cell list and saying edit) and checking 'Border Region' or something. Poke around there and see if thats an option.

I think http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=1034134 is the thread that Gunmaster is referring to, quite a valuable tidbit that I kept in my Fo3 Notes.

Cheers,

Yea that was pretty much an expanded version of the thread I was. Just if you already have your worldspace partially made that you would skip all of that except the part where you are marking your border. That also made it appear it does not just have to be a rectangle, which is fantastic. :D
