Worried about getting 360 version.

Post » Mon Nov 29, 2010 5:21 pm

I pre-ordered for the Xbox 360, but I have a very nice high-end gaming PC.

I am starting to think I should have bought it for PC instead, but I don't know.
I got it for 360 because I didn't want to risk having a small community on PC, and I knew 360 would be a larger community (especially with mics).

Do you guys think the 360 version will still be good? I'm just worried it will be sub-par to the PC version and I'll end up buying PC version and spending excessive amounts of money to enjoy this game.

Thanks in advance.

Go where your friends are bro. The game is just fine on all platforms so just go with your bros. If not then there is always the big ass steam sales.

Well if your pc was/is able to run it just fine then i would of gone pc if you are worried about it svcking.
Yes it'll be sub-par with the pc since the pc will have more features and most likely better graphics then the xbox360/ps3 versions.
There will most likely be more players on the 360 and ps3 versions but there'll still be tons of players on the PC. Wait a few weeks and there'll be even more players on the PC version.

I agree. Wherever your friends are at, it seems better to play with them. It probably isn't too late to switch your pre-order anyway. I know that my gamestop will switch it for you if you have the receipt.

Guess it depends on what you want out of the game. Console doesn't come with dedicated servers, so i'm kinda worried about that. But like you said, maybe a larger community though. But if you have a great computer, it will probably look 10 times better.

Come December you might be able to get brink for a song on steam anyway so don't sweat it. For my money friendship overrides minor issues with the game any day.

I don't have many friends, and they probably aren't getting this game...

The stylized appearance of this game shouldn't look that much dif between the 360 (in HD of course) and PC version. The recommended specs to run this game on the high end are a tad on the modest side. I think most of the processing power'll be used for keeping the game running smooth and latency free in mp.

Just keep it for the 360 for now. Maybe when it drops in price get it for the pc.

I know but I'm really wishing I got it for PC instead, but I can't justify spending another $50 to get it for PC TOO.

You will more then likely be able to get it for half that in a few months. I know when I build my PC I'am going to take advantage of the backlog of games I bought on steam. I hope they have a Bethesda bundle in December, snag the whole catalog (brink,hunted,skyrim..) for about 100$

Nope, you can't justify it and don't try to. Wait until it's cheaper.

However, your small community fears are unfounded, really. The Steam group has 100 members in it now. There'll always be someone to play with. We have TeamSpeak set up to talk through as well.

Here are some factors to decide over and it may help you determine which version is right for you.

Online:
- friends/community; probably the most important factor in deciding which platform to play mpol.
- dedicated servers vs P2P
- XBLA vs Steam
If you won't be playing mp, then it should go not without mentioning that these 3 are non-factors.

Gameplay:
- controller vs mouse/kb
- rig performance (and if your gaming rig is portable, Brink anytime, anywhere...battery life permitting...and assuming you don't have some sort of mobile 360 set-up)

And if you're an individual who ranks graphics and sound as integeral parts of your gaming experience, rig performance'll come into play twice with this one. In other words, mediocre rig, 360'll probably look and sound better in HD.

If you want people to make a decision for you...I sway towards the PC version, granted you have enough power to run it at its fullest potential.
