Worried About Limited Customization

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 6:35 pm

after watching the most recent vids of customization i am now thoroughly distressed as to the extremely limited amount of options available. there was about 9 options for headgear? that is weak and about 12 options for torso wear? come on for customization being a HUGE selling point they must have more than this. i am starting to regret my pre-order.....

most (every?) item of clothing also has different colour setups which change the look quite drastically.

Ok, bye then. The community will be better without someone who doesn't enjoy the game.

The customization totals to more than 100 quadrillion. Which includes tints and face colors and facial hair etc.

There's also a whole lot of different colour options for each piece of gear. A lot of people will choose not to wear head gear anyway, there are many choices of face tattoos and things. And by the way, don't call a part of Brink 'disgustingly weak' on a Brink forum or you will get painfully flamed.

wow i said no where that i did not enjoy the game u [censored] i am worried that the customization will be weak, which is a legit concern seeing as how it is a large part of the game. i hate u mindless fan-boys that defend a game with out having played it. i am still willing to play this game and see how it works out, so please DO NOT put words in my mouth or speak im my stead.

If you are going to reconsider your pre-order over customization then don't get the game. I just don't see why customization is that big of a deal.

i would have to agree with the OP. it is surprisingly low...

as a selling point youd think theyd include more, if it wasnt a selling point then it wouldnt matter, but this is dissapointing.

Well actually you did say that you were starting to regret your preorder...there is a lot of stuff in this game, customization may not compare to the standards of APB, but it's still great considering all the other content.

Ok I'm sorry, you putting that you regret pre ordering the game made me think you wouldn't enjoy the game because of customization. Also I never defended the game, I just said the community would be better without someone who doesn't/wouldn't enjoy the game and that really goes for any game.

It's all subjective. 5 options might be a lot to one person, where 1,000 may be a small amount to another.

I'm sorry, but that does sound awfully like you saying that you are not going to enjoy this game.

Let's compare this game to Halo: Reach in terms of customization. Reach had like 9 or 10 things you could customize, and brink has double that. Reach had many things in each category while Brink has a "limited" number of things (remember, there are also two factions). Honestly, having more articles of clothing or facial features seems like a waste of space that could be used on something useful, like a new map.

For the record, I hate trolls who flame a game without having played it as well. Looks like we have something in common.

And it's not really a selling point, else they would have put more videos up of it.

It really isn't as big of a selling point as the focus on teamwork. Customization's there to make you look distinctly different from other people, but in the end teamwork is the name of the game.

(actually no it's not, it's name is BRINK :P)

glad u linked it, but still disappointing as someone having darker tint skin with a mask on will look exactly the same as someone with lighter tint skin with the same mask on, so that cuts a considerable amount of customization options i guess i will just have to wait and see if the game is solid or not

Last time i checked gameplay was more important to a game then customization. Sure we all love to make our characters unique but many, many games have less or no customization at all.

LOL, have you researched this game at all?!
its their second biggest gimmick ( i use gimmick lightly) along with the smart button.
its what attracted me to this game, and honestly 10 per option isnt bad (quite good) , and is much better than most games, i still dont think thats enough to qualify as a valid selling point and "100 quadrillion" is extremely miss-leading.

I'm curious if these options were including all the ones that can be unlocked as you gain more experience. I haven't seen the vid, so I don't know what you're basing this off of.

Is this guy serious? I mean, this is still the best Appearance Customization I have EVER seen in a shooter. The only place you're going to see anything better is in an MMO.

Since when did Brink become an RPG or MMO? Oh, it didn't?! It's still a team based FPS?! So the customization options available, still put in the top tier against other games in the genre? Just checking.
