worried about quality

Post » Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:25 pm

after seeing the horrid horrid release of rage, well i know it aint the same dev just the same publisher

but im still worried the pc version is gonna suffer from console limitations. and that it might be the publisher thats pushing in that direction. i really hope this wont be the case

BUT all we have seen of skyrim so far has been played on xbox 360, pc video showing off some amazingness yet to be seen
and that worries me a great deal especially this close to release, there should be PC stuff all over

unless it looks the same as xbox360 version with horrid low quality textures

Bethesda Softworks isn't like other publishers, they don't push in any direction whatsoever. They just print and sell the games.

Rage's problem has zilch to do with Consoles. Id has always liked Open GL and many of the mainstream GPU's just aren't that great with it. The same problem would have occurred if Rage was a PC exclusive.

You know, who cares if they show PC, X-box or 360. It will all be touched up to look good and not be able to judge the final product from it.

You really don't know anything about Bethesda do you?

Watch this(all 5 parts) and be educated.

RAGE has a good metacritic average and some really nice reviews. Nothing "horrid" about it.

yes i do, because they ARE low res textures, limitations of the xbox, dont forget it only runs a graphics card rougly equal in power as a geforce 7800/7900 wich was a LOOONG time ago us pc gamers tossed in the garbage bin, and before you say "yeah but its optimized for x" read this article on it http://www.beyond3d.com/content/articles/4/

it just doesnt have the raw power to handle highres textures

no, nothing about whats better or not, its just that i think most want the pc version to really utilize the hardware we sit on and not look exactly the same as the console ports

and im worried it aint gonna do that seeing the latest trends in the industry

who cares about Textures when they're good enough and the game's aesthetically gorgeous. Gaming needs to slow down on pursuing polygon counts and texture quality and focus on making good games, the 360 and PS3 can run quite fine graphics that can show subtlety. The industry putting graphics first is the big problem.

Bethesda defies the industry standard in all aspects of their company. Watch the documentary series I linked to above.

aaargh i give up, and this is why we get [censored] on our high end gaming machines...

most of us sits on nex nex NEX gen machines compared to the x360 or ps3 waiting for consoles to catch up so games can continue to progress.. .. since most games released now has to be optimized to run good on dated hardware

see the problem ? why should we have to wait for the nexgen consoles ?

console gaming is currently holding pc gaming back, and im not the only one that thinks that, theres been plenty of discussuins about this in the developer world lately

thus i was a little worried skyrim would go the same route

and yeah i have a 360 myself and loving it still, but that doesnt mean i dont want to stretch the legs of my pc does it ?

Agreed. I am personally getting tired of all the PC elitism here. I left Bioware's forums for this exact reason.

Just because you're rich and can afford buying a new fancy computer every single year (or every 6 months even), does not mean you're better than everyone else.

Also I choose console over PC because of the simple fact that controller and sitting on the couch in front of my nice flatscreen is much more comfortable to me than a mouse and keyboard and sitting in front of a dang computer all day. It's also far cheaper in the long run and less stressful, as I do not have to worry about "OMG will my system run it?!"
