Worried about the length of the game

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:18 pm

Hey guys, so I played Skyrim a ot since the release date, and I realised something. I only have the Companions Guild, the Civil War quests and some Misc and Side quests left. I have discovered a lot of places, and got most of the achievements/trophies. I have 3 skills that are 100 (Sneak, Archery and Smithing), and have completed quite a few companion quests (companions as in the people that follow you around). I fear the I may get the game completed (I know I can never get 100%) and will have nothing to do. I know I can probably create a new character, and choose different skills and such. Any help as to what things I can do? I really don't want to finish this game this early lol. Or then again, I could be completely wrong and there is still lots of things to do.

Keep in mind I have the 360 version, so mods are not an option.

Have you tried simply exploring more? I get a kick out of just walking around and discovering new places. Also, if you start a new character, give him/her some type of backstory or role, and stick with it throughout the game.

For example, my second character is an Orc named Deathstroke who was sent across the border to seek vengeance on the Dark Brotherhood. The DB assassinated his brother as his brother was a high profile Dragon hunter in another region. So not only is Deathstroke in Skyrim to destroy the DB, but also to slay as many dragons as possible to honor his brother's legacy.

^^^^^ as nerdy as that sounds, a story for your character adds a fun element to the gameplay.

Try not fast travelling at all for 5 hours. See if you still have nothing to do.
I've not used fast travel at all, and the amount of quests and sights to explore is terrifying.

I've played 20 hours so far and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of anything. I've done 2 Companion quests, I've just met the Greybeards and I've done one Daedric quest. I haven't even chosen between the Legion and Stormcloaks yet. Slow down, explore more and use less fast travel. The game will last much longer.

Length of the game? if you have most this explored and all the quests complete...well you must played alot as well.

How many hours??

I know im at least 30+ hours and i have at least 20 left on my one character. Never mind my next one!

So, your current character is head of the College of Winterhold, the Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves Guild, and the savior of Skyrim? Sounds to me like you need to take the time to actually role-play a character. A "master of everything" character has considerably less depth than a focused one.

You probably haven't been exploring as much as you mentioned. There's a lot of stuff you won't find unless you happen to stumble across it during travelling, stuff you easily miss if you only fast travel and use the horse carts. Stuff you miss because you dismissed conversations between NPC's - Oftentimes you can hear them arguing with each other, usually a quest is attached to that if you talk to them. Stuff you can find in the middle of nowhere that puts you on a big quest chain. Dungeons that aren't actually attached to quests at all.

I very much doubt you've even seen half, or even a quarter, of the total game, unless you've been playing 16 hours a day since over a week ago.

I've got over 20 hours logged, and I feel like I have so much more to do. I haven't even been to all the cities yet!
I haven't finished any of the guild quests yet either.

I very rarely ever use fast travel, and love just exploring the map. I reckon it'll take me around 100 hours to all the quests.

I don't understand these claims.

Follow these five easy steps to get more enjoyment from Skyrim:

1) Look at your world map.
2) Note where you are.
3) Pick a random spot opposite your location.
4) Walk to that point.
5) Let yourself get distracted by everything along the way.

Rinse and repeat.

If you don't get at least another month of gameplay from doing that alone, then nobody can help you.

Have you tried playing a thief yet? They aren't quite as good for combat as a warrior, but pickpocketing people and breaking into houses is quite fun. <3

Oh and if you ever do get to play on the pc, try mods. There aren't many out yet, but when some more start coming out it will increase the length of the game quite a bit. :D

Lack of content is the last thing to worry about in this game.

It took me a few days to discover in oblivion (40+ hours gameplay ( The jumping skill was 100 by then. ). ) there was such thing as fast travel. In oblivion for me the map is mostly explored with probably 89% of all local areas fully mapped. Then again i don't like to fast travel as i think it takes out parts of the game meant to be explored, the whole pay a wagon driver to drive you to places like riften in skyrim is flawed.

I've played for 90 hours and haven't finished any of the faction questlines or the main quest.

I can't help thinking you're doing it wrong!

Yeah I've put in many hours myself and feel I've barely scratched the surface. My initial character was breezing through adept, so I started a new game and upped the difficulty. I never use fast travel, not even carriages. But there's just so much to explore and do in this game it's not funny, I'm not sure how people are finishing their first play through already...

I have logged 50 hours on my first character and feel there is so much more that's waiting to be explored. I've only done the Main Quest Part of the college of Winterhold, and tons of miscellaneous side quests that all had a very unique and interesting story.

I've just been taking it easy, exploring and going into random caves when i came across em...i've only got through a few quests on the guilds, got to the civil war attack bit but don't wanna go further along the main quest for a while...i've played at least 6 hours a day since it came out and there's tons to do. This game pees on the competition in terms of content.

Someone uses fast travel too much. Dont use it anymore and youll have more fun and be more immersed in the game.
