number 1. alien vs predator, sorry was kinda junk, almost no one bought it.
number 2. i see your concern, and i have thought about that too, but i think if crytek and EA buckle down and gets some really good ads on tv, internet etc, crysis 2 could be a household game. i know at least 15 of my friends are getting it, and they know people who are getting it as well, so while it may not be as popular as black ops or mw2 at the start, it could really gain a following 2, maybe 3 months from release. plus it will last a while because theres so much replay value. once your done being the big bad wolf, and you unlock every action hero module, you can comepletely change to stealth tactics. people wont get bored using their weapons the same way over and over, just assulting.

As always it will be strong until the next CoD arises feeding the fanboys with more of the same that they know and love. If I were on Xbox I would be worried to. People are now afraid of picking up a new type of game and learning the ins and outs while they can just go to CoD and automatically know whats going on....camping, noob tubing, finding glitches to exploit and going to youtube for more stupid videos to watch on the subject.

So yeah, what I'm saying is Crysis 2 will be very popular until CoD comes out. Except on PC (not being a fanboy) because the majority of PC users think CoD is a complete waste of time.

I belive there is over supply of games in general on the market. C2 (aka mini crysis ;p) will be one of many without established brand on console market and with features similar to so many others titles.
I think PC market will reject the C2 as a kind console port (or a console cut down if you will).

In short - not many ppl on servers :/

Crysis 2 is combining aspects from Halo and Call of Duty. I anticipate (if the developers do an actual good job filling the game with a large number of features) the game will pull players in from other similar games and the community will flourish.

from what ive seen it zseems like crytek is now trying to appeal to call of dutiers, not in a bad way though. now that crysis is more linear and there appears to have more weapon variety, plus it wont be as much of a learning curve as crysis 1 was, (you know what im talking about)than perhaps it could become the new CoD 4. So like i said, if it gets good enough advertisemant, than it could a household name, PS is there any way of seeing how many people have preordered C2 for 360?

This thread is kind of amusing, because I am worried that Crysis 2 multiplayer wont last long on the PC, even though it is the base platform for Crytek, 6v6 servers will either result in tons of servers with nobody playing. Not many people want to pay for an expensive dedicated server when it can only hold 12 players at the maximum...

The game should be fine on the Xbox considering how much marketing EA has pumped exclusively into that version.

Absolutely every single press coverage and video of Crysis 2 has been focused on the Xbox360, including the only beta test to date. :|

The problem with the average call of duty person (at least on x-box) is that they arn't your typical hardcoe gamer. Call of Duty is typically all they play and all they know.

so? than just let them wallow in the bliss that is call of duty. i'll admit, call of duty is what inspired me to get my xbox, and it opened me up to crysis, battlefield, halo etc. give call of dutiers some time. im sure when videogames were still new, people playing "space invaders" and "pong" said "super mario brothers " 'players werent legit either. but just go with it, and maybe they'll change. well, thats my hippie advice of the day breh.

The way they have neutered this game now, its not going to last long on any platform, especially PC. Some PC players will buy it out of curiosity, then probably dump it in disgust when they find it is nowhere near Crysis 1. I doubt if there is going to be any demo. It would kill PC sales. The only thing that is going to save C2 on PC's is if Crytek offers a LOT of modding help and extremely good SDK and Editor. Cause were going to want to bring in larger maps, vehicles, and 64 player max. i.e. make it a modern PC game. Us PC players are looking for Arma 2 in Crysis, not some tiny Xbox shooter.

I think we should not worry about this too much because Crysis 2 will find a following and will have its loyal fans as well. In regards to COD Games they will always have the market but after each game release the excitement gets less and less. I know many people were pump up for MW2 compared to Black Ops and every year they will be release a new game so I hope people will start to realise that the COD is just the same game with just a new box, graphics and few new features. I admit I don't mind COD Black Ops as much, but it is still COD and I will be jumping ship once Crysis 2 and Brink comes out. Cheers

I already pre-ordered my "limited edition", I'm a long time Xbox user and this worries me too.

I played the original Crysis in a friends super rig during a technology show, which lasted 7 days, I really liked the game, however a never beat it. The graphics are obviously there, however I hope Crytek has been doing a big game-play push during all the development process, you just can wait for a small population to buy the game for benchmarking purposes and then leaving the game "behind". If Crytek/EA wishes that Crysis 2 is a little bit of a "Halo Killer" (worst objective IMO, looked at Killzone, it was supposed to be the Halo Killer, Halo has been going strong for a decade, in 3 platforms) then they need to give Crysis the original touch it needs so much, not just in the visual department but in the game-play aspect!

Remember good graphics don't really sell games, solid game-play does, looked at CoD it has been applying the same, now old formula in 7 games and there is tons of people still digging the franchise (I really hope the next iteration is a disaster, the one Sledge Hammer Games is developing, CoD has one way or another being the cause for the weakening of the Halo, Gears of War and Crysis communities).

I think if we kind of expect the game to have a decent online population at least during 12 months after release, (PS3 also), EA needs to wake up. and start advertising the game a la CoD or Halo style.

You can blame potential buyers, if they have no idea a game of this quality is coming out in less than 3 months.

A good demo will do miracles for Crysis's 2 "Marketing Campaign" (almost non-existent).
