Worries about PS3 version

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 3:33 pm

This is not meant to garner any flaming I just want to voice some concerns I have and see if anyone else is in the same boat as I am.

I preordered Brink for my PS3 last summer some time. I have been super excited to get my hands on it especially since my brother and a few friends have also preordered it.
My concern now is this: PSN is screwed over for who knows how long and even if it is brought back online it will more than likely go down again shortly after due to constant hacking attacks.
If I pick up my copy of Brink I will only get offline play and that defeats the entire purpose of buying it. I have a PC that will easily run it but none of my friends do and neither does my brother.
I don't have the money for an Xbox and I don't want to pay a monthly subscription just to play online...I already pay for internet.

So I am holding off on picking up the game to see what happens with the PSN. I am pissed at these hackers who have ruined gaming on the PS3 for over 100 million people and claim
they are attacking Sony. Sure it hurts Sony but your ruining alot of peoples main source for online gaming.

Those are my concerns, I just hope I am not alone in this situation.

P.S. If any moderators see this, I am curious if slow beginning sales of the PS3 version of the game have already been discussed?
I was also wondering why the hell did the PS3 version not get a 1080p video output? Seems like a waste not to if you did it for Xbox... just sayin.

I own a PS3 and 360, PSN will eventually be back up, but who knows when. It was supposed to perhaps happen over the weekend, but who knows. It would be kind of svckish getting a game like this and not having online first day, plus the game seems to really tie online into everything. I think it would still be worth it to pick it up, though.

First of all, the amount of time Sony is spending upping their security means that it will most likely ass [censored] any attempt a hacker throws at it. Also, the hackers that brought it down this time have already admitted their faults in ruining online play for all gamers and decided to redirect their attacks in a way that won't affect the rest of us.

Also, not being able to play online doesn't defeat the purpose of having it! Brink will still be an awesome game offline or online, and you won't be stuck offline for too much longer

i wouldnt worry about it PSN will come back up eventually and the reason its been down so long is because they doing their best to ensure its as secure as they can get it

don't be pissed at Sony be pissed at the hackers who selfishly ruined 77million ppls fun <---- FREE fun by the way

And since you play the same char offline as online you can just use the time get familiar with the game and junk

I'm not too worried about the PSN. It will be back up in no time and if it gets hacked again then just deal with it like everybody else. The PSN is free and i'm willing to deal with hackers for something thats free.

great input already, thanks for the opinions guys.

Money is tight everywhere so picking games becomes something you really look at more closely, but if online isn't there it's just going to svck you know.

I'm not worried. I just preordered mine today for PS3. Sony says they're in the final stages of testing their new security network infrastructure so PSN should be up soon. Soon as in sometime this week or next week. Just enjoy the offline portions of the game and when PSN gets back up, I'll see ya there ;)

i have been telling all my friends that itll be back in a week tops since the day after it went offline... 18 days ago... i had to talk a few of my clan mates out of selling their ps3's a few times, and every delay is making it harder and harder to keep them from selling it...

There is no bightside to the psn being out and Brink releasing in 28 hours... but if i completely had to try and look at the brightside, at least the SP is identical to the MP, and you can start building your character up and getting the hang of the game, so when the game does go online, you will have the concept down and leveled up a bit...

I think I will be picking the game up in a couple days then, the game is gonna be sick either way. If you guys are getting it we should post PSN ID's here so we can start getting rooms together if the PSN does come online this week.

mine is Igneous

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I appreciate your opinions, you guys helped to restore my faith in this game so thanks again.

that is very wrong the game will not be any different than offline than online i bet if you put the offline bots on the hardest difficulty you will find the game far more difficult than goin up against other people that what i do to warm up in CO BO combat training or KZ3 botzone and trust the bots are much more difficult than the busters that i play against out here on this ps3 or wait maybe its jus because im a super beast :toughninja:

I don't mind too much, gives me plenty of time to finish the campaign and do all the challenges.

I meant no disrespect to Brink's offline campaign. I only meant it would svck not being able to play it online with friends for quite some time while we wait for the PSN to come back.
