My worries...

Morrowind: Great game, one of my favorites, but can feel dull at times, needed a tad more life

Oblivion: Removed the dullness to a degree, adding a bit of life to characters but added level scaling and fast travel via teleportation on the map, and the MQ was thrust in your face from the get-go, lockpicking was a chore. However, lore was kept in, plenty of things to do and explore.

Fallout 3: An improvement over Oblivion in the flaws mentioned above, but you have to like a post nuclear setting, I'm strictly a Conan-esque fantasy type of guy. Also, I felt that the dialogue options weren't all that great, and made me feel either like an idiot good guy or some potty mouthed homicidal punk with little in between.

Skyrim: Straight into Conan-esque nordic type of fantasy  , all the flaws fixed in Fallout 3 from Oblivion tweaked better, killer perk system, and complementary dialogue in terms of services and information purposes. Will most likely be the most enjoyable out of the four straight out of the box.

Really? What has gamesas made?

Nothing. gamesas is a publisher, not a developer.

Just because you have three good games in a row doesn't mean the 4th is good.

Indeed, correlation is not causation, however it is a good indicator of of the outcome of the future. 3 games with many awards, to honestly think their 4th game wont do well, to HONESTLY think that, is kinda silly. Sure, it could bomb, but then again, Steam could fail.

Yes, that can be true sometimes. But usually, a different developer is working on that title or something like DA II happens.

Also, from what we've heard from critics, they greatly enjoy the game and I don't expect them to change their minds once the game gets released.

Major gaming critics aren't always exactly trustworthy all the time (gamespot and Kane and Lynch, PCGamer gave DA 2 a 94% ) and can be compromised. Write a glowing review of our game or you'll not get any more exclusive interviews.

We do not know enough to say if Skyrim will be good or bad, which is why I am waiting until christmas. I am just beginning to be worried due to the cutting of animalistic hands for beast races due to time constraints, which makes me worry that perhaps even more features will be cut to make the stupid 11/11/11 timeline (radiant story...again, werewolves, bug squashing etc).

"Japanification"? Five Septims says you've never even played a Japanese game. WRPG players... what's up with the widespread sheer ignorance towards Japanese games? Dragon Age II isn't a result of "Japanification". I believe the proper term is "dumbed-down". "Japanfication"... what the hell?

That's exactly what I thought. I've never played DA2, but from what I've heard they made it more action oriented over RPG oriented.

That's completely the opposite of most JRPGs. They tend to follow a turn based/ATB system usually.

Final Fantasy XII, for example, has such a similar combat system and overall gameplay design to KotOR or Dragon Age: Origins. Then the action-oriented Japanese RPGs, such as Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, do their real-time action with class. There is nothing over-the-top about Demon's Souls' combat. It's very down-to-Earth, so to speak, in its limitations and requirements of restraint/strategy. The game as a whole makes one feel so weak and insignificant that their brain, patience, and caution are completely essential tools in surviving.

Can't sit on the game for ever. BGS has a timeframe and a budget to adhere to given to them by Zenimax/Bethesda Softworks. Things get cut in games all the time due to time and budget allocations given by publishers.

c'mon, You don't hear a lot of Bethesda because they don't make the same game everyyear, like the other publishers do ( "Activision" - Call of Duty, Ubisoft - "Assassin's creed"), They take the time and make really good clasics that most of the time end as a GOTY. The people of BGS, They are great developers, and i pretty sure Skyrim will be another jewel.

Bioware just svcks now ever since they were bought by EA. Seeing what they did to Dragon Age 2 and ripping the RPG out of Mass Effect. I don't see any Japanification going on with Skyrim so we're good.

Bioware started svcking once they got off the d20 ruleset and that was well before EA bought them. It has been a progressive downslide since then as everything after KOTOR isn't an RPG. It's an upjumped action game similar to Skyrims direction but extremely smaller in scale.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me here, or if you're not. :/

I was just agreeing that it's really odd that somebody could say DA2 was "Japanified"

You have to agree that the "typical" JRPG (Think Final Fantasy) normally follows the turn based, purely stat based form, even if it's sort of masked under real time turns (DA:O0. That's where I kind of get that you agree with me.

Sorry if I'm not getting the message. It's getting late.

If it goes anything like Oblivion: It will be good, but it will be far worse than we all thought it was going to be.

That echoes my thoughts but I'd replace the words 'we all' with 'some'.

My standard advice for unknown games or games by unknown developers is to wait for critic/player reviews.

Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 all ranged in the 8-10/10 for reviews back in their day. Take that as you will. Bethesda Game studios is a fantastic developer. Bethesda Softworks take chances on games that don't always end up so amazing. To me that is a lot better than only publishing guaranteed AAA titles or sequels.

In general if you like open-world sandbox games, you will like the stuff Bethesda Game studios makes.

Indeed.

I'm assuming the OP confused Bethesda Game Studios (Which MADE games like Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3) and gamesas (Which PUBLISHED games like Fallout: New Vegas, Wet, Brink and will be publishing Rage) which is a commonly mistake that many here have made.

If not, well I guess not everyone likes Bethesda Game Studios style of games.

Don't fret. They have multiple GotY awards.

Multiple GotY awards for multiple games speaks for itself I'd say.
