My Worry

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:49 am

What i am worried about is the fact that when you shoot someone and they are laying there waiting for a medic to help them or whatever, are you able to finish them off or can't you? Also i think a lot of medics will get annoyed because if someone shoots down a guy on the other team and the downed person is waiting for a medic to arrive, the person who shot the guy can just wait around a corner for the medic to get there and kill him. A bit of camping the person. That could cause a big issue for people.

You can finish them off so they have to rejoin the spawn wave.

Well medics revive has range, so you can throw it. Also it will teach people not to go out alone. Finally killing gives the least amount of xp, so ideally people wont camp because it wont be beneficial enough.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but I think there are enough blocks in place to keep it from being a problem.

It's a possibility, but if they try to do that for every person they kill, they'll end up pretty frustrated when they waste 10-15 seconds camping someone who ends up choosing to respawn.

If I recall correctly, you need to have purchased an ability to finish off incapacitated opponents.

Pretty sure you don't.

But you don't get XP unless you kill them with melee.

Where did you hear this? if that's the case then the downed person should have a pistol to defend themselves.

Well no you draw an enemy medic out and then you kill him depriving the enemy of a medic.

Nope.

Which is why I said it will happen, I just don't think it will be an issue. As I said, smart people won't be going out alone, unless your an operative. I think it will be a tactic, with risks and rewards, but smart players will see whats coming and thus it wont be a problem like the OP was stating.

Thanks for that Wraith - and it shows him getting XP for it too, so that proves my memory wrong (I tried to find the interview where I thought I read it, but either I forgot to bookmark it, or I'm confused and wrong)

Obliviondoll, I think you get bonus xp for the melee kill, at least that was mentioned a while back.

Might be what I was getting confused with. But like I said, can't find the reference I got it from.

Yeah what they said in a interview is that you get minimal xp for finishing them of with guns, while melee will wield quite a nice bonus.

As you've already found out, shooting a downed enemy does reward XP.

Meleeing them does reward more XP, though. ;)
