Her voice should have changed (some) simply because there's new hardware involved, but an accent is a learned (or in Curie's case, programmed) behavior. All her software was migrated from her old hardware into the new hardware. If you had your brain surgically implanted into the body of an Italian, would you start speaking with an Italian accent? No, of course not. However, you might find that you are not a tenor instead of a baritone simply because there are new vocal chords.
i really preferred to adventure alone, unless character had to be there, or i liked having Dog around early in the game. now he just stays home.
I don't know what's installed on your computer, but none of that is true for the Piper in my copy of the game unless by 'no combat skills' you are referring to her puny default pistol.
Haven't traveled with Nick much have you. A tired gum-shoe personality, useless perk (since I've never failed to hack anything), no hair at all and fight with a pipe pistol by default.
Course I like both Piper and Nick.
Curie. She has a cute voice and comments, but with the settlement problems at times and hearing her her speak, "I ain't your parent/babysitter". Maybe Preston should be blamed more, but in my most recent playthrough, Curie as Preston is guarding The Castle as the good soldier he is (and still at times, kick him in the ass for the trick-or-treat encounters of settlements are in trouble).
Preston is the best companion because you can get quests for the Minutemen without having to keep travelling back and forth to settlements to talk to him.
How do you get preston to guard? he only farm.
I can not command any followers in build mode.
Odd, that's the main reason I think he's the worse.
I think it's completely random. When he's not walking around like he's on patrol he's usually working on some bench in my settlements, sometimes farming.
The only problem I've ever had with Curie is her predilection for jumping into combat with her fists. A console command to lock her default weapon ended that.
If you want to build up settlements fast in the start its very nice to have him as an follower, however later you do missions for settlements you already hold so it can be smart to put him so you don't bump into him and get quests.
Preston is by very far the most annoying follower i just cannot stand his do gooder attitude. I mean being good is one thing but at this level its walt disney mickey mouse and pokemon. ANd his never ending quests make me always skip the minutemen ones so he always rot in sanctualy hills may his depression eradicate his essential character. I wait for the creation kit to make when freedom calls a quest where you can fail with the option to murder mama murphy, get rid of preston and those villagers. And Cait loved that.
Cait is the best follower. JUst dont do her personnal quest shes fine as a psycho addict.
Danse isnt bad but "for the brotherhood" and "rdy soldier?" after being kicked out of the brotherhood i just say no.
Codworth is like preston do goodie.
Valentine I'm not a big fan.
The others i dont know.
Strong is so annoying...to the point that I couldn't even have him in my main settlement.
I must be crazy, I love Dogmeat only one I've hung out with besides McGready
True. That's why I keep him with Cait at Hangman, which I basically use as storage only. They deserve each other. He's not bad as a companion though. Just not for long.
Nope. My two favorites as well, although Nick and Deacon follow closely behind. I'm taking Piper for the first time over the weekend so I'll have to see how it goes.
Preston honestly. He really only have two or three traits and that's about it. His backstory is mostly eh too. Then again, I feel that the Minuteman in general has gotten the short end of the stick and was rushed originally. There's some hints in the game that there was more to the Minuteman then we got and even hints to the Gunners being join-able.
I honestly have a feeling that Fallout 4 was meant to have more major factions but it was cut down to rush the game's release and to give the player a "default faction" that will never hate the player so they can still complete the MQ no matter what... Which is probably why the Gunners idea was fully scrapped and Minuteman was cut-down to very bear minimum.
In my opinion, I feel that Preston and the Minuteman were originally meant to be stuck in The Castle, under attack by the Gunners and you have a choice of helping the Minuteman or Gunners there. (Helping the Minuteman would follow the idea of getting into the Castle's armory for the suit of Power Armor inside as well as other gear to use against the Gunners). Makes a lot more sense if you piece everything together.
Might be, and would be more fun IMHO - But I think Quincy was the place, not castle. At least in Quincy is Mama Murphys chem storage
Not necessary. I feel that Quincy was under control of the Gunners and that Preston and them had to retreat to The Castle next. The Castle was suppose to be their last line of defense and the Gunners had an all-out war on the Minuteman. If you look at the map and take notes where all of the locations that were previously owned by the Minuteman but now owned by the Gunners... You'll noticed that each place is in-a-row. The Gunners were basically on a campaign against the Minuteman.
Another interesting thing is the damage done to the Castle in-game... That's honestly no Mirelurk damage, even by the Queen. That damage is more explosive damage, and if you take notice... The gunners in Quincy (the ones which would be moving on to attack The Castle) had some pretty heavy duty equipment, including Power Armor, fat mans, and so on. Definably more than enough firepower to take down a wall or two for the Castle and I feel this was the original plan.
If you took Minuteman's side, you'll do a campaign to fight back against the Gunners and regain control, helping settlements and getting more people. Taking over Quincy again then the other places. There would've been more quests related to the people even. (I feel Murphy's chem storage originally had a quest around it even). I feel that Quincy was suppose to be a settlement (not a workshop one but rather a city related settlement like Diamond City and it would progress/upgrade depending on your overall progress with the Minuteman).
There's a lot of other small details but I think you get my drift, yes?
For the same reason that people loved Serana even though she was the most annoying companion in game (next to Barbas but he's only forced to follow for 1 quest).
So... you only play unpleasant characters? Serana had one of the deepest backstories there was and was a wonderful companion (well.. except for the whole walking between you and NPCs during conversations thing). Can't argue with Barbas though. He was annoying! Made Dogmeat look like an angel.
Unfortunately the Volkihar in general are a horribly shameless Vampiric cliche that contradicts the more awesome in-game lore about them.
