There's gunfire in Oblivion? just having fun with ya!

There's a "Better Curie" mod? Ugh. There is nothing aesthetically wrong with vanilla Synth Curie.
They're basically giving her blonde hair and blue eyes. She looks more generic than anything. I'm fine with Cassandra Curie.
There are several Curie mods, and there will be many more. I use http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6782/? one.
Same for the other companions, I imagine. I looked at Piper mods, but to be perfectly honest I think they pretty much nailed her look in vanilla. I haven't found a Piper mod yet that I like.
since he's still n#3 on this list, i want to speak up for dogmeat:
i'd like to make beth an explicit compliment for this dogmeat incarnation:
he is - doglike. on an artistic level (his character animations are awesome) as well as in most of his behaviour.
and that's not just a rational "yeah, that's pretty much what a dog's like" for me, but works on an emotional level: i've been having quite a couple of dogs over the years, and when i'm carried away with the game, i sometimes find myself actually behaving towards dogmeat like i would to a real dog, not an npc companion.
and this makes this dogmeat in some way the most plausible computer game character i've ever seen.
...and yeah sure, he's wandering off when i want to talk to him, breaking my stealth, attacking at all the wrong times, and when i command him away from a bunch of overpowered enemies and 2 sec later, he's right back at them, i could knock a bullet in his butt myself, but hey, that's, luckily for beth , all the neat little things a REAL dog would bring the sunshine into your postapocalyptic life...
let's say there wouldn't be anything aesthetically wrong with vanilla curie if i could command her into a hairdresser's chair
but other than that, totally agreed, she's a real cutie as is.
for "better curie" mods, i can pretty well imagine what that looks like, since most of them look exactly the same: huge eyes, swollen lips, giant boobs and everything resembling an edge removed from her facial features, while drowning them in makeup. ah yes and almost forgot: booooooooobs.
it's just boring, and a pretty sad indicator for common taste (not saying there'd be no good makeovers out there at all, but the majority just isn't)
anything interesting about him?
don't wanna make friends with him since i need to kill him sooner of later (or at least i found no way to not for the railroad way in my 1st playthrough)
i'd like a naked gen1 follower (or rather "pet") like the ones that get maintained in the institute btw, they're funny
Preston Garvey. No explanation needed. Strong because super mutants are to be shot on sight.
I simply cannot get over the accent. She tells us her whole damn life story and nowhere in it does she explain how or why she wound up as the only person in a 50-mile radius with an Irish accent. Is she from Ireland? How did she get to North America? Whatever else she brings to the table, the fact that she breaks immersion in such a critical way every time she opens her mouth makes her the worst possible companion in my mind.
My problem isn't you having an opinion, but asking for the company to follow your opinion.
So kind of like the Isabella (from Dragon Age 2) appearance mod. Double ugh.
won't make him say the gen-1-at-home lines
(even if it was possible, since i can't even change his outfit without console commands)
make that "keeps telling".
had her in the boathouse with nick and curie in my 1st game (just started a new one), told her to be "best friends" or what that was the 1st time she came up with romance since i didn't want to piss off my romance curie who was standing right next to us (or do they accept polygamy? , and ever since, i couldn't be within a mile radius without her going "sorry i laid out all that crap upon you a while ago blahblah" and i'll have to do the best friends dialogue again. and again. and again. and again. couldn't even talk to her to trade stuff back without getting that anymore.. gonna leave her in that little fight club of hers, or send her off to murkwater or some other remote site this game i guess
hey, nobody ever complains about curie having a french accent
(i actually think both curie's robot story and cait's accent are just camouflage for the fact that curie actually is a sixist european exchange student clichee - a real cute one though - and hey, cute french exchange students, now THAT'd be immersion breaking, with france not existing anymore and all
I actually didn't have a problem maxing out Strong's affinity. Just took him on settlement missions and killed lots of anything. I still wore PA and picked locks and hacked. I guess the settlement outweighed any negatives.
Wow, you showed some fine combat skills in taking that raider down... want to be our General?
Maybe it's me and my old convictions. but I just can't connect to the new dogmeat
Worst: Preston, for obvious reasons.
Best: Nick Valentine. He hacks terminals for me and has a great personality.
i have taken none so far. Well the Dog comes along. He's fun. Crazy, in the way all the time, and AWOL once in a while. He is my handicap.
I do need one, I may have over done it with my equipment, and level 50+ Combat is a hoot. An X0-1 Mk VI, that runs and flies, and my collection of custom weapons, not necessarily Legendary etc, but built to my specifications, has made me a killing machine. The dog provides a small check on that and humor too.
No VATS ever and Survival all the way. I actually dread having a Companion, next play through, as it's easy enough without one. My next guy will not be so OP, that's for sure.
Two or three notches in hacking and you beat Valentine hands off. That's not to say, he's not an enjoyable companion.
Sure, because they explain it and the explanation makes sense. There are other characters in the game with foreign accents/languages (the Russian brothers at Diamond City, the English scribe on the Prydwyn, the Norwegian raiders in that one shipwreck) but (a) you aren't expected to bring any of those guys on adventures with you and ( they don't give you their life story. Look, it's not IMPOSSIBLE that Cait is from Ireland, just as it isn't IMPOSSIBLE that the other characters I mentioned aren't from Russia, England, and Norway... but if those characters ever decide to tell us their life story I would expect them to mention that, because travel across the Atlantic Ocean would be a very unusual event, not something done lightly or without consequence.
