Worst Companion

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 7:04 pm

All companions who are not pretty. ;) So all other than Cait, MacCready (changed with slm), Piper and Curie. I voted for Hancock because his choice of clothing is unacceptable...

I'm good at keeping in character so the worst companion for this play through is Strong. Companions likes and dislikes aren't a big deal to me since I don't adjust to get likes all the time. If they leave, they leave.

Honest question? Press E to exchange items, let them put on clothing not wearable with armor (press T to equip), then equip armor briast, then unequip the armor briast. They are naked. Also possble for settlers if you would like to develop Nordhagen Beach into a nudist camp. You get a problem of course if you use an armor-wearable-with-all-cloth-mod, in this case use the nvde SummerCloth mod (works only for females). I like the other method more.

just want to point out that the Norwegian raiders are also ghouls, so they were most likely there when the bombs fell

Yikes, this topic has lots of spoilers!

Least favorite is probably Strong, and it's not because of his fighting ability, he's a good fighter. His comments are disturbing and he doesn't have those endearing qualities like Fawkes (F3).

Not sure why all of the hate for Dogmeat. She is one of my favorite companions, with the attack dog perks. Bethesda did a super job making the dog, imho.

I still need to get 2 more companions

Spoiler
Curie and X6-88

On this play-through I've been using Preston for the first time. He is by far the worse. I made the mistake of just leaving his inventory alone and letting him use that SLOW weapon of this. I swear he's lucky if he shoots once every ten seconds and when he does shoot he misses 80% of the time. He doesn't even make a good meat shield because he goes down so fast. Granted I could give him some armor and a better weapon but as is he's worthless.

I also can't 'TALK' to him anymore without him starting out by telling me to go rescue some settlement. Hell I just wanted to talk, not get more on my honey-do list. Thinking about replacing him with Cogsworth

@Myst357

The reason dogmeat is terrible is because he needs the attack dog perks to function, perks that only effect him and no other companion, making the perk a complete waste of time if you use any other companion.

True, plus I've read that he will work with the Lone Wanderer perk as well, so basically two perks benefit him. Course I do like the pooch. When I'm tired of hearing people pvssyr ... or I'm tired of them standing in front of me when I'm trying to snipe stuff, I'll grab Dogmeat.

I prefer that. It annoys me when the other companions breathe down my neck just like when people stand too close in real life.

I voted Piper and Preston...they're tied for the most useless and annoying. I can't comment on a couple others that I haven't tried yet.

He's trying to bring you to the museum where preston is fighting raiders, if you didn't go there yet.

also he does not count for the lone wanderer perk, making him the best companion for snipers, giving a combined carry weight of 250 (dogmeat 150 plus perk 100 ), higher than strong or danse.

withdraw your statement immediatly sir, preston is by far the worst.

STRONG CAN CARRY MORE THAN PUNY HUMANS

2nd only to danse in carry weight (200 vs 210), and has so much freaking strenght he just oneshots anything his size with a super slegde in hand.

The more I play with all of them... the better the Lone Wanderer Perk looks.

That said, Danse is the only one I've dismissed before getting his perk because I just couldn't stand him anymore.

I voted Preston (obvious reasons)

Cait. Like her in every way except the god awful OTT accent. Can't stand her for that long.

And Nick because he seems to just dislike EVERYTHING i do.

Danse gets alot better later on.

I find Strong fun, but his affinity is hard to raise unless you're a cannibal.

All. They're all terrible, honestly, the only one that gives some honorable mention that's close to a likable companion is Dogmeat, and that's because he doesn't lock out Lone Wanderer, meaning you can have him around AND be essentially immortal! Too bad I can't stand his idiotic ways of blocking me in a room, or running through traps.

I'll place a vote once I have them all... But, so far I chose Dog over Preston.....and then Piper over Dog (Piper loves it when I pick locks or manage to hack something......Which really fits my play style.) I really suppose I need to play with other companions more.... But if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Well since no ones defending Cait I will, Admittedly I am a tone deaf american but I have been to Dublin and she sounds well Ok... I suspect a Real Irishman (hahahahahahah) might have some choice words about the accent... But then again where your from in Ireland is what a real accent would be, And to ME (and my bad ears) that ranges from an Irish version of english (correct me if I am wrong but english is still there second language I think) to what the hell did you just say (and they were speaking english just not anything I could make out) ??

And -cough- this area Boston is/was sort of an Irish stronghold in real life historically (you might catch that if you look at signs or names) so I expect in game she speaks that way cause her parents did no other reason, I like hers much better than a certain other Irishman you get to hear in game if you explore. (I suspect his is southern Irish heh dont hold me to that)

Also

Me either all in all dogmeat is a good dog.... heheh never where I want him, and always bumbling into stuff. That goes for all the companions. I have had my angry moments with them all but they are all very well written even if not you style.

That said I am going to have to say Codsworth and pre op Curie....... simple reason everyone has bumped me to my death, But these guys actually burn me with there thruster while there at it. (seriously they burn you alot).

my 2-caps

Yeah, I didn't think much of him until I actually got to know the guy. At the end of his quest, he deserves a hug, as what happened would have traumatized anyone.

Based on what I'm reading, Strong will probably be my least favorite, if I ever bring myself to recruit him. He hates everything that I inevitably do during normal gameplay! At least most companions center their dislikes/hates around dialogue options, not necessarily actions. But Deacon is also not interesting me so far, but everyone else is on some level.

Danse, Nick, and Piper interest me the most. Oh, and Codsworth just because I love to hear him talk.

X6-88 is easily the best companion in the game, the worst is by far Preston.

I have to jump over my shadow and try him some time, even if it means getting the brotherhood in the same package.
