worst MP experience i've ever had....

Post » Thu Jul 23, 2009 5:28 pm

this game has so many things going for it... and its awesome when it works.. which is only in private matches unfortunately..

I have no idea how developers have taken such a huge step backwards in p2p systems... nobody gives a rats ass about killcams and every conceivable statistic being tracked.... I thought blackops was bad but this sets a new standard for mediocre... 80% of the time you can drain an entire extended clip into someones head only to have them turn around and shoot you twice in the knee and get the kill...

everyone wants to blame network lag... thats a false assumption... the game is lagging itself... you can be host or have 1 red bar, it doesnt matter.... but get yourself into a smaller lobby and notice the difference.... and its only 12 players!!!!!! that is horrendously low for the map sizes... which tells me they lowered the player count to the bare minimum after the fact and it STILL runs like crap..

but it doesnt help much that they cant even implement a simple regional filter on matchmaking... Crytek, you make great looking games... but you are utter amateurs when it comes to MP...

blame Crytek UK for being svcky, Crytek Frankfurt did a good job for singleplayer.

dedicated servers needed to handle Cryengine3 network infrastructure ...

same problem happen with Gears of war 2 launch and even now, games are laggy with unfair host advantages

finally epic games realized that they need dedicated servers and finally putting them gears of war 3

Question , can you do any better with a certin amount of money for the start. If so , you should go back to work and make it better, because I think the game is great and yes it does need a little work but what would exspect on a week old release.

if they did in fact use the same system as Treyarch did... the better your connection, the more you are physically punished with artificial latency to "balance things out"

thats why in a NA lobby, some dude from mexico or the UK will tear you up.... the game is running at their speed and adjusts and predicts everyone elses data... it doesnt matter who the host is...

its not lag... how the **** could it be when we were playing lag free games with great hit detection 10 years ago with a 1/3 of the bandwidth and latency we have now...

developers have realized all they need to do is market and hype games.... they make it look great, do the usual song and dance for any pre-launch issues, get the standard 9/10 reviews from the BS game sites that are paid by the developers/publishers...

because once they get you to buy it... they have your money and you have NO legal right to get it back... its virtually the only industry left on earth that is truly buyer beware...

blackops, homefront etc etc... they are all exactly the same... this industry is a cesspool now and i cant wait for it to implode and rebuild...

^ I do agree that you should be able to get your money back from the companies if you want to trade your game back in- and I mean all the money not 1/10 of it. You can do that with any other industry pretty much, it's kind of lime fascism the game's industry is...

in some cases... developers hype the hell out of completely broken games just to get the initial sale... the UFC series is a prime example of it...

its legalized fraud... and its becoming more and more common...

12 players low for the map size? I hope you do realize that the maps are also very opened. The game is already chaotic how it is right now, mroe players would be a bigger casual mess of non-sense.

Its got it issues, hopefully the devs will come out w/ update to make things better. But if your bad at the came your just bad. Connections, pings and updates won't fix lack of skills. Not saying the OP is bad. But I think some people would get owned worse on perfect connections.

If that's the case it would explain a lot.

Regional matchmaking only would be a simple fix.

Crytek?

Region locking a game like this would simply mean less games and more time spent sitting by yourself waiting for 5 more players.

Yeh it's INFURITATING - to the point where the game's pretty much pointless to play half the time! I've been killed by "headshots" anywhere from the shoulders down, ridiculous... And seen melee's kill nowhere near the other player. Just seems utterly random as to whether ur shots count half the time. Happens WAY too much to b down to the other player having armour on. Oh and I'm not just rubbish at the game either lmao!!!! MP has so much potential it makes it so frustrating - must b a patch that can sort it?!?!?

It wouldn't be so frustrating if the dev/publisher were more forthcoming with patch info.

EA published games are especially notorious for this. The BFBC2 servers had ALL kinds of issues for the firs 2 months of that games release and very little info was ever communicated to the community. In fairness to DICE though they were between CM's and the one they have now is one of the best.

When I think of community management, Bungie has me spoiled as far as what to expect.

What other industry pays you full price *back* for a product that you already used? For you to do that, the product actually has to malfunction - as in destroy the inside of your console. As it stands now, Crysis 2 runs perfectly fine and, as such, no one is entitled to full compensation.

So it's a choice between no matches or lag infested matches then? Is that the best we can expect?

There's a difference between the game running on the disc it came on, and the game running but with considerable technical problems.

While Treyarch's CM ignored the entire community for months except to chew out and bich at one poor sod for being a bit choice with his words - nothing particularly savage either. The guy was dreadful and made no effort to engage a disaffected PAYING community as to the problems with the game. I would hope crytek aren't learning from Mr Josh Olin.

gee... how bout walmart, who will take back any product in the store no questions asked... except for video games! (ok yeah.. movies and cd's too... but i've yet to have an incomplete or malfunctioning one of those)

and lately... its becoming clearer that there is just alot of cheaters... its not entirely crytek's fault there but they havent done anything to prevent it either... with the usb stick support, everything is there for the taking.. or editing.... from achievements and gamerscore... to armor and damage abilities...

LOL I wish I lived in a world where I can buy a bad movie. Watch it. Hate it. Then return it because it "svcked".
The problem with that would be. When everyone is done with the said item. If it be a movie or video game. Some people would abuse it and return something as soon as they are done it. Aka achievement whores.

You don't sound like you've been playing online multiplayer for very long. Trust me there have been tons of far worse game w/ online. If your going to right a thread be realistic. Of course it has issues, but the title of your thread make you sound retarded.

Why on Earth do we have prehistoric P2P systems? the connections are absolutely disgraceful and I am 100% certain when you are host it takes less bullets to kill an enemy.

I honestly doubt this will even be fixed because it's EA at the end of the day EA are the worst company ever.

Agree 100%, I was so excited for this game and then I played the full multiplayer and well you understand. Companies need to stop using **** p2p matchmaking and fork out money to make dedicated servers, and these type of companies have the money to do it.

yours makes you sound like a 14yr old fanboy.. fair enough?

i've been playing multiplayer games since there was multiplayer games to play.. who the hell are you that your opinion is worth more then mine? this game barely qualifies as playable in my books.. and why its the worst? lowest connections i've ever seen, most inconsistent in terms of amount of bullets needed for a kill...

but the main reason is they obviously went to insane amounts of trouble with this game, it looks fantastic.. the stupid little glitches in SP (which dont really matter to me, but still a glaring oversight) aside, its pretty fun..

that makes the MP all that more of a let down.... especially when i already stated how fun smaller private matches are...
