Worst Glitch I've ever seen, need help!

Post » Fri Feb 13, 2009 1:10 pm

I realized when I travelled to New Vegas to dump some stuff and I had no faction reputation for at least half the factions I have or rather had.

I swear the only people I shot at in that hour where powder ganger's and I'm / was already vilified with them anyway!

I'm at level 30 (no dead money) and 160 odd hrs. game play the save I started at is fine and this is the first time I've ever seen this and I pre ordered got it a day before release

Help I cant complete the game properly without those reps, can this be patched, its not a listed bug I've been able to find (on XBOX)Email me

Are wearing faction armour?

If so unequip it.

If not, then you may have found a less common bug.

If he was wearing Faction armor previously, his rep bar may have gotten stuck, reequip Faction Armor and unequip and it should be fixed if this is the case.

I almost never wear faction armour (I accidentally put NCR Facewrap on in Hidden Valley Bunker... The BoS really don't like the NCR)

Geez 160 hrs and lost all that rep huh?, that does svck. Never had any rep based bugs myself.

As with many Bethesda games:

Just when you thought you've created enough save slots, go ahead an make a few more.

Hope you figure it out. If not you can always go back to oblivion :).

New Vegas is not dissimilar to Fallout 3 by Bethesda thus it was made by Bethesda and 'tweaked' by Obsidian, and this is a Bethesda Forum thus (I would hope) the majority are pro Bethesda. If you have nothing contextual to contribute then please stop commenting, particularly on mere semantics. No I did not report you, I am irritated not offended.

This is what I got from Bethesda, I think they just don't get what I'm saying! You guy's have been more helpful and the problem isn't solved yet rofl!

End Game Quests.

For these quests you must choose only one faction to be loyal to. The quests for the other factions are failed when you gain infamy for siding against them with whichever faction you choose. The choice between Mr. House and Independence/Yes Man is made first during Wild Card: Change in Management and The House Always Wins, but the player is still able to choose between Caesar's Legion or the NCR for a little longer. The final choice on a single faction must be made after the player floats up the B-29 from the lake for the Boomers (or immediately after the first choice if you have already completed Volare! previously). After completing the quest Volare!, the next step is to report to Caesar's Legion, the NCR, or Mr. House/Yes Man that the boomers will assist them in the fight at Hoover Dam.

Whichever faction you choose, completion of the final quest initiates an end cut scene after which the player must load a save to continue playing. Keeping a save from before you choose a faction to be loyal to is recommended. Because after a faction is chosen, all the others (excluding Yes Man) will become hostile to the player. So in order to complete all of the side quests available in one game, it would be necessary to load to a point three to four quests back, before an affiliation is chosen. There are also achievements/trophies for two of the final quests for each faction so getting all achievements would require four play throughs of the final missions.

They sent you a generic cut and paste. They read faction and stopped reading after that.

Because they Just. Don't. Care.

I'm having the exact same bug. The White Glove Society attire did it to me. Un/re-equipping does nothing. Feeling like I should restart.

Sigh.

Did you try equiping the exact same type of faction armour?
As when it got stuck for me the one time I tried every type but only the specific faction one worked ( in my case NCR. )
If you had another factions gear on previously before the white gloves try it with that instead.

Tried it with every kind of faction armor I can remember wearing -- no luck. Also tried clearing my 360's cache and re-downloading the patch -- nada.

It definitely seems to tied to the White Glove clothes specifically; every time I put them on, a faction disappears from my list. One by one, any faction that has faction clothing goes. Put it on; bye, bye Caeser's Legion; take it off, put it on again, bye bye White Glove Society. I can only imagine that the NCR, Powder Gangers and Khans all went down the same way, one by one, when I was wearing the White Glove Attire before I ever even noticed the problem. But that was hours and hours ago and any saves from before that time are long gone.

*Sigh*

At least I'll be able to build my character slightly better this time around. T_T

Thanks for the help, though!

That sounds like the worst faction armour glitch I've heard as of yet, sorry to hear about it.

Have you tried seeing if raising your faction rep again has an effect.
Try killing someone as a test, or less brutal head to Freeside and pay to have your rep there boosted a\t the casino.

It seems to raise/lower normally, as if starting from neutral, but nothing sets it back to where it was.

Ugh, maybe I'll just keep going like this. Rebuilding my rep. from scratch is probably easier than completely starting over from scratch. Just a bummer how all that stuff I did doesn't seem to matter anymore. I wasn't going to side with the NCR in the end, but the perks I got from being liked by them in the meantime were still nice. Now they just treat my like any other jerk. :-\

Ok i skipped to the end of this because i starter reading spoilers. I may have had something similair. If what happened to me isn't a bug then it's just a stupid oversight. Well i went to do the mission where you find the guys family at cottonwood cove or whatever it's called, It's a legion slave camp. Well i was Villified there so i got all armed to the teeth with the best condition armour and weapons i had, and went to storm in there to get into the massive fire fight that waited for me, and what did i get?! "Hello, how can i help you? would you like to buy some slaves?" or something like that. You'd think i'd be relieved but i was the total opposite. In my mind it was the equivalent of a major movie plot hole and a total dissapointment.
I also keep getting notices telling me i am 'shunned' by the faction even though i am already vilified by the same faction.
