Worst guild quests of any TES Game?

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 10:31 am

So i have just now finished the college of winterhold and become archmage... I have also completed the companions on a different character. So far, I am disgusted with how short they are. DISGUSTED. Literally what, 3 or 4 quests and I am the arch mage? Wtf is that? Theres not even any ranks? And dont forget the companions, 1 quest, boom, you find out the whole circle is werewolves. 2nd quest boom, they let you join the circle. A few more quests, boom, your done.

In the time it took to do every assosiate job in Oblivion, I could finish both the companions and the college of winterhold. I am actually scared to try the dark brotherhood now. If its gonna be 5 missions till I am the top of the heap, [censored] it. I could care less if the game can keep generating useless content for me. I felt like the game literally handed me arch mage and harbinger, I didnt need to work for it at all. I am only lvl 15, dont even have a skill over 65, yet i am archmage?

I can't remember a thing about Arena, Daggerfall was certainly way longer, Morrowind definatly, and Oblivion as well, even though I hated their mages guild. TES 5 Skyrim, the worst guild quests ever. I cannot believe how [censored] short they are. I could care less about any of the stupid random fetch quests from the npcs, the main guilds have always been the bread and butter of the game for me.

Is anyone else totally disappointed about the lack of content here?

In retrospect the Dark Brotherhood questline is short. But it is amazing compared to Oblivion in my opinion.

The DB quest line might not have been too long, but I thought it was pretty good with a nice twist at the end.

I'm of this opinion as well.

The quest chains are significantly shorter, but are of a much higher quality than what we had in Oblivion (or Morrowind). Some may dislike the scripted/cinematic feel, but I do think it results in a generally more impressive quest line.

About the only thing that doesn't compare is the Thieves Guild heist in Oblivion to the end of the Theives Guild chain in Skyrim. But I think they are pretty close in awesomeness.

DB is an excellent chain. Companions are probably a weaker one. Mages college is so-so.

I only have finished College of Winterhold and Dark Brotherhood questlines, i like Dark Brother more.
Colleges quest line is worse then Oblivions Mages Guild. (which was pretty weak too)

Fighters guild from Oblivion. Every quest was 'go Here and kill X number of beasts. Return and reward.

I wish idiots would not spout spoilers all over the place. I've been here two hours and I've had doofuses spoil two major plot lines.

I did find the Thief's guild quest line rather long myself. About as long as Oblivion and, I cannot say it's better or worse. The guild itself feels a LOT more like a thief's guild should look like but the quests barely involve stealing whereas the last Oblivion thief's guild quest was grand :D The quests in Skyrim are good but just not very thievy I'd say.

It's even more sad that they think separating a sentence with the word "spoiler" is enough to stop people from reading it and remove all blame from themselves when they do it.

I was disappointed at the NPC reactions afterward. I'm their leader and they continue to say the same old stuff. I used to get a kick out of waltzing into the guilds in Oblivion and having people be all "Honor to have you here Archmage". I was like, "Yes...yes it is".

Orc Librarian guy still tells me not to make a mess in his library. It's my library now, walrus-man, I can use your spell tomes as toilet paper if I want to.

Spoiler
I thought the visual effects with the Eye of Magnus, and the general sense of urgency were a bit more significant than what we saw with necomancy in Oblivion. There seemed to be many more magic related puzzles, whereas in Oblivion, you really didn't need to use spells at all during the mages guild questline (except for that one ruin).

Winterhold was short. But it was still tons better than Oblivion's piece of junk. Ooh, fetch a ring from a well. Now go find a book.

The ruins puzzle in Oblivion was cool. The only good thing in the entire set.

I feel the same way about the College of Winterhold.

The problem is that there are no other guild houses like there were in Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion, where each city had a guildhouse with its own quests. So the Mages Guild in previous games had many quests to do. But the College of Winterhold only had as many quests as a single guildhouse in previous games. To make up the difference they should have had at least 2 or 3 more quests, and perhaps some new tasks you could do once you reach the final rank.

So the Mages Guild in previous games had many quests to do.

The Mage Guilds in Oblivion only had one quest each. It was often just a fetch quest. Or a generic dungeon with an item at the end.

You can still get those here. They're just not required. You can do quests for the orc librarian, several of the instructors, and each of the other students.

The difference between randomly generated quests and the quests to become leader is that the quests to become leader can have a storyline. Apparently all the storylines of Skyrim svck though. Apparently they fired all their writers and hired the guys who animate finishing moves in Mortal Kombat. Good to know you've got your priorities straight, Bethesda.

Yes I am as well. I was hoping for oblivion and as far as skyrim goes it excellent for those who have never played an rpg or and elder scrolls game but for us who have it's awful.
