Is it worth buying the other Elder Scroll games?

I played Morrowind on my workstation for a while. Got bored with it because I did not understand the game. Skyrim was boring to begin with stopped playing for 6 months after 2 hours of game play. Started up again after Leo LaPorte said it was a great game. I love Skyrim. How were the other games in the Elder Scrolls series? Worth getting?

Treat each game as its own, unique game. Don't compare them to Skyrim or any of them to each other, except the background lore and universe being the same.

If you try not to make too many comparisons (because lets face it, older games will be worse graphically and can have some "outdated" gameplay quirks) then you'll enjoy all of them as great individual games in their own right.

Oblivion is similar enough that you should be able to jump right in and enjoy it.
Morrowind takes more patience and understanding of game mechanics, but it's often mentioned as being the fan favourite.
Both are considered "classics" in the genre.

Arena and Daggerfall are not as refined as the newer games, but if you love old PC RPGs than you'll find them a lot of fun.

Each game really stands on its own very well.

I think Morrowind and Oblivion are well worth the money. As SomeWelshGuy says, both of them are different than one another and both are different than Skyrim.

All three games have their good points and their bad points. Myself, I like all three, for different reasons. I urge anyone who likes Skyrim to try Oblivion and Morrowind.

Oblivion was good modded. PC

Arena and Daggerfall are different animals from the modern games, I think the term old-school applies. You will probably get bored.

The good thing is Arena and Daggerfall are free. Here is Daggerfall, Arena on the same site. They are installer versions that have DOSbox set up for convenience.
