Worth getting or not?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:53 pm

So I have been foloowing this game recently and I think it looks good. Quite a few of my friends have this game and they told me thats its quite good. I almost always buy a new release but after buying homefront, I have given this some more thought.
So, back to the topic, Is this game worth getting?
Thanks for your replies :-)

I would say yes, especially since I have not experienced lag during the past few days even when I play the "big team" playlist with full teams on both sides. The game is very solid and teammates actually work together (EVEN ON XBOX!). The graphics are not the best, even for stylized, however the gameplay more than makes up for it. Is the game perfect? No, of course not, what game is? This game definitely is alot of fun to play and a couple patches I'm sure will make it even better. The major complaint I have is lack of content, with the eight maps, hopefully they have DLC planned for after the first pack.

Overall I would recommend the game, give it some time to grow on you and learn the gameplay mechanics and you will find that the game is one of the best team-based games out there. So if you're on the BRINK (pun intended) of getting the game I would say jump right in. If you do decide to get it, enjoy it, I know I have considering it has made it into my gaming rotation.

It really depends on what you want really. If you are looking for a COD clone (ala Homefront) or for a game that promotes lone wolf style game play then this is not the game for you. If you want something different, interesting, fun to play, and team based (ala KZ3) then this game is more for you.

Also if you rip your hair out because of the problems that ALL games have during the first two weeks of release (lag on some games, glitches / exploiters, etc) then you should wait till this game gets patched before making your decision.

As for me I enjoy pretty much all FPS (all COD, MAG, LZ3, unchartered, LP2, etc) and this game was pretty much everything I expected it to be. Its a blast to play with friends and even more of a blast if you are playing against all humans (the AI can be very iffy when going for the objectives but on hard setting they have a crack-shot and will kill u pretty quickly / unfairly). And the customization is pretty awesome as well I have 5 chars so far (our of ten max) and each one is different both class-wise, body size-wise, and look-wise. I am even making new characters and trying to mold them after characters from other places (Working on a Barret and Cloud from FF7 and a Hulk Hogan as well lol).

So once again its up to you but if you want something that is at least different and fun then this game is for you.

I enjoy the game (PC player here).
It's similar to Quake Wars and Wolf:ET. I'D say buy it, but if you're unsure then go to your friend's place and play it a bit to try it.

Does liking battlefield for teamwork and like the movement on assassins creed (running, climbing etc) count??

If you like objection based multiplaying with custom gear and weapons, it's a good investment. I can't speak on the issue some talk about because I havn't experienced non of it. With that said, I'm sure their problems will be addressed soon enough. This title will shine if there is consistant support from the Devs and the gaming community.

I can honestly say that this is my favorite FPS since Halo: CE ( I didn't like any other Halo besides that one.)

It is very similar to battlefield teamwork-wise with a few little differences. And its more like a hybrid of BF and Mirrors Edge if you ever played that. I wouldn't quite put the running game play at that of AC because thats a 3rd person and you can climb pretty much everything.

I'd honestly say yes from personal experience, but I've heard of enough people disliking it to recommend try before you buy. If you play it and like it, then go ahead.

If that's not an option, though, my recommendation would be yes.

Depends on what you are looking for and if you can overcome some of the flaws or not.

It's a love it or hate it kind of game. There is a little bit of a middle ground, but for the most part, it's kind of a niche game (at least that's how it
feels for me, anyway).

I would suggest renting it or wait for the DLC and patches. It also depends on what system you get it for. I heard PC is the best out of the three, but
PS3 (which I have) is not too bad, but PC had dedicated servers and stuff.

I'm a Splash Damage fan, loved ET:QW, IMO Brink is not worth buying, online svcks, and the rest is average at best. The overall artistic design is great though.

I've played it for 30 hours so far, I also played W:ET, while it has been fun I'd still say to wait till it is patched before you buy it. The main reason I have 30 hours is playing with friends, it's not nearly as much fun without. [PC]

Overall I still agree with Ars Technica and Kotaku's sentiments that people should wait for the game to be patched before buying it at this point.

I'd say yes for pc, you might want to wait until the lag issues are resolved before getting it for consoles. Obviously don't buy it if you don't like the whole idea of the game.
