Is it worth switching to PC?

Post » Sat Aug 03, 2013 12:26 pm

I've had Skyrim on my console for a long time I've played countless hours of vanilla and expansions, but I've finally hit that wall I wish there was somthing new for me to explore but there just isn't, I've done evreything and I can only imagine one or two other RPs I could do to make Skyrim playable for a while longer.

So what I'm asking is, can the mods enhance the quality of the game and content to a point where it would truly be worthwhile to play again on PC?

The real question is, why haven't you switched already? Always ascend if you can.

If your PC can handle it, then why not?

It's like asking someone if a motorcycle off the sales floor is better than a 'Chopper' you can have modified to your personal taste.

I currently have 60+ mods including around ten that add extra quests/content and that's just a drop in the bucket.

Gaming PC is worth getting for so many more reasons than just a modded Skyrim, but yes, if you can spare ~$500-1000.

It can if you can get the rig together to run the mods you want.

Is it worth it? Simple and best answer: that depends on what you're wiliing to pay for.

part of the reason is pc's are not standardized. some are frankenstien monstrosities and badly maintained.... lots of spyware , etc

One thing the PC does is allow for longetivity... mods, updates, support (since consoles easily get replaced marketwise... new versions are not backwards compatable, where a pc can still run older stuff with utilites and built in compatability modes)

Seem to me, by your logic that no one should own a pc ever, for any reason because everybody has issues with them from time to time.

...and not to stoke the fires here, but consoles are not immune to technical issues as well. Does this also mean that we should not play on them because of those issues?

@op: like others have said, if you have, or are planning to get or build a pc (more bang for your buck) that can handle the load, then it is definitely worth it.

But TBH, you should play on whatever platform you want, whether it be XBOX, PS3, or pc. They all have their positives, and their negatives. The question is that in your mind, do the positives outweigh the negatives of making the switch.

PC also has the unofficial oatches, which fix the majority of those issues.

OT- If your PC can handle it OP, then yea I'd suggest switching.

Depends.

I'm saying no for myself mainly because of Steam... So it depends if you are okay with Valve having control or not over your hobby and such.

We can assume there are twice as many PC players that go and seek help in the forum instead of buying another title and play Call of Medal: Battlehonor Field

Switching to PC is a vast improvement over console. The mods add longevity to the game. Why do you think veterans of Morrowind are still passionate about the game? Mods. Also I've never had any major issues with Skyrim, aside for a few random crashes. There is also a new mod out called "http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37994" It is said to be of DLC size quality. Plus the unofficial patches are a must.
