worth trying to fix my install or better to wipe everything

i am pretty sure that MMM didn't install corectly into my FCOM install, even though i used TheNiceOne's OMOD MMM installer. i'm getting missing mesh models that are from the MMM.esm, and corpses are green. more fatal is the fact that the game crashes to desktop every time i try to leave the sewers.

so, i am wondering if it's worth trying to salvage/redo a MMM install or if i should wipe everything and try a FCOM install again from scratch?

i started a game with the 300_test.esp active, and observed a few more missing mesh/texture markers, some of the creatures (goblins) were that bright green color as the corpses. in test cell 07, some of the missing textures (vampire thief and scout) were from francesoslevelledcreaturesitemsmod.esm, which is in my OBOM as an .esm and not as a OBOM archive>createOMOD. i did see some fighting amongst different species of creatures.

my plan is to read thoroughly through these two BAIN-install links and, if folks think it's the best option, to wipe my current isntall and try again:

i read over most of bladeofmercy's 50 steps to a stable FCOM install post (http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1090232-50-steps-to-stable-fcom/page__hl__50%20steps) and, while i find that awesomely thorough, i also find it nearly brainmeltingly complex. not going to try that, in the hopes that an FCOM BAIN install is easier.

what i'm hoping for is a sense of whether my current FCOM install is salvagable with some tweaks and component reinstalls (like MMM), or whether, based on the CTD, i'm better off wiping everything and starting from scratch.

EDIT- forgot to mention that BOSSlog lists no conflicts.


PS- in reading over the info on both OMOD and wryebash, i am not clear on how they interact...say i change my load order in OMOD or add a new .esp file. should i then open wryebash and rebuild my bashed patch? it seems that wrye bash relfects any changes i made in OMOD- ie, it will list any esps i added to OMOD, and in the order i loaded it. i ask b/c i am not 100% clear on what (else) i might need to be doing in wryebash after making any changes or additions in omod.

I'd suggest starting over from scratch. Start with a freshly installed patched Oblivion. Start a new game to check that it seems to work as it should. Add OOO. Check that it works. Add the core FCOM mods. Check that it works. Follow the install order guide in the FCOM thread. When you have a stable core FCOM setup running you can start adding other mods, but incrementally, like one or two at a time, while checking for stability/issues.

Regarding your MMM issues. As all resources are in the bsa there's not much that can go wrong with the install, but it's vital that the bsa is correctly renamed.

am i okay installing OBOM, OBSE, and wryebash after installing oblivion GOTY edition? not adding stuff to the game at this point, just installing those tools.
and at what point is it okay to make a few of the oblivion.ini tweaks as presented here: http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_8.html

I haven't used the OMOD installer but I think it gives the option between having an MMM.esp that makes renaming the bsa unnecessaary - and otherwise I think it checks what you have installed and renames appropriately, so if you started out with installing MMM the OMOD installer didn't know it was supposed to be renamed for FCOM. Anyway, I'm sort of speculating here as I haven't used the OMOD installer. But for FCOM it should be named FCOM_Convergence_MartsMonsterMod.bsa - so just check if it is and rename if not.

Beware a bit of ini tweaking - since the last patch many of them are rather useless. Yes, you can install tools fine. Also, if you start from new install - don't just uninstall the previous install, delete the Oblivion folder as well so you really start from scratch.

thanks for all that....good theory re: the MMM OMOD install. yes, i did install MMM via OMOD creation before I isntalled FCOM, which might explain some of the MMM wonkiness. i'll rename the MMM.bsa this time around.
