Worthwile potions/poisons for an apprentice in Alchemy.

Could anyone suggest some potions/poisons that have a good value to sell?

If you could tell me what ingredients to collect for those potions/poisons that would be great. I'm not interested in the effects being useful or not, I only really care about the dough that they will bring in when sold.

Restore fatigue. Almost any 'food' ingredient (corn, apples, rice, etc) has this as its first effect, so alchemists of all levels can make these potions. What's better is that most of these ingredients are plentiful and easy to come by -- just raid the barrels and crates in Imperial City Market District -- making their sale values pure profit.

I've been doing that recently but was sure that some brews would be of higher value to sell.

IIRC any potion you make at a given skill level with the same equipment has the same price, so if you're not making them to use, just make anything you can. As your skill increases (and it will if you make lots of potions) then the price they fetch goes up, so you may level up in the middle of a batch, and the last few will be worth more than the first.

Note that this means that some ingredients you can find are worth more than the potions you can make with them. A general rule of thumb is to sell the ingredient if it's worth more than half your current potion price.

Also a better Mortar and Pestle increases value of potions made, so if you're making potions and selling them at an alchemical merchant's, then buy a better M&P if they have one before making the potions.

From the wiki:

The price for which you can sell your potions (and poisons) is determined by your Alchemy skill level (modified by Luck) and the quality of your mortar and pestle. The number of ingredients, cost of the ingredients, number of alchemy effects, and quality (or even presence) of other alchemy equipment have no effect. The price of a potion can be calculated from:

Price = (Effective_Alchemy + MortarPestle_Strength*25) * 0.45
The prices are always rounded down (so if you calculate a price of 8.95, the actual price will be 8 gold). Therefore, custom potions can range in price from 3 to 56 gold.

So ingredients don't matter, your skill level and mortar & pestle do. So as mentioned above raid barrels and crates in the IC market place or go to farms and take what you need. I like Odill's farm near Chorrol and the vineyard and tomato field around Skingrad (vineyard is by the stables and the tomato field is around the north side of Skingrad.

Quantity over quality is the way

Just wonder through the West Weald and pick up everything

Sort them out when you get home
