11/11/11 A worthy sacrifice

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:14 am

There has been some content that has not been put in, some bugs, and some little things people turn into big problems. I understand the date 11/11/11 is cool and attracts slightly more people to the game. But I honostly would have sacrificed another month (December 11 would have still made the christmas shopping) for more polishing and content adding.
So the question is "Would you have sacrificed one more month for a more polished game?"

Yes, you should make a poll.

Well yes, but playing for a month while they work on patches is good enough for me.

no because barely anything would have changed. if you play on the 360 and are complaining i'm lost. and yes i'm very picky, it took me two years to finally play more than 5 hours of oblivion, but that wasn't bugs, just a massive design flaw.

Skyrim is by far the least buggy vanilla tes so far. I haven't come across a single issue until around 80 or so hours in.

I agree with you OP, More and more Development Studios are relying on Patches instead of putting out a quality game out of the box. There are more and more examples of this with the Most Glaring imo being Starwars Galaxies by Sony Online Entertainment (Still trying to figure out how a game based on the Starwars universe failed). The first few days are crucial in a games longevity. As First impressions are usually lasting ones.

ha, EQ was successful despite mostly crap expansions every 6 months so I guess I they thought that model would never end the profts... when EQ2 and WoW hit at roughly the same time... well... we know the rest.

If it would have meant that some quest-lines and NPCs were fleshed out then definitely.

I say they should have waited another year for 2012. Could have gotten 12/12/12, which is the last calender year like that until a century from now.

Could have had a lot more stuff added and could have had a more epic game. Plus, I could have gotten games I wanted that I sacrificed for Skyrim.

unless you live in Australia, you wouldnt even get to play it....

in all seriousness.... you should probably ask a more specific question. asking would you rather a better game for a month's longer wait is kind of ambiguous because we don't what you are fixing...

And even if we waited a month, we would've complained about whatever bugs that where left then and we'd be back at square one.

The fact that the next patch won't be released until January shows that this game wasn't ready.

But then they wouldn't have had the pleasure of honoring Charles Manson by releasing Skyrim on his birthday.

No. Because "11.11" has been my lucky number since 1997.

When Oblivion came out I named my first character 11:11.

Now they make movies about it, and when they announced Skyrim for that date, I knew I was the chosen one.
