Would a bosmer hunter join the stormcloaks or the imperials?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:16 am

Before, i always thought that bosmer would join the stormcloaks. Especially my hunter because she hates the Thalmor and opression.
However, if wood elves are part of the Aldmeri Dominion it might make more sense to join the imperials.

wood elves have a deep hatred of the thalmor because of the many purges committed by the dominion in valenwood, whole clans just taken away and never heard from again, choosing either side is a difficult choice because they both have their pros and cons personally i go for the stormcloaks nearly every time but its your choice, the wood elves never joined the dominion they were absorbed into it after a coup overthrew the valenwood government

Like any other person out there. They can come up with reasons for joining either side.

Actually she should join the Aldmeri Dominion. Too bad that isn't an option.

I can't think of any reason (unless you just make one up) for a Bosmer to join the Stormcloaks, whereas you could argue some small reason to join the Imperials. Personally I wouldn't join either. Not like either gives you anything anyway and the main quest has some new quests in it if you haven't joined either side while trying to finish it.

It all depends on the individual. Everyone has their own agenda. Some of them will find their feelings match those of the 'cloaks, some with the Imperials, and some with neither. The same goes for any race really. An Imperial who hates the Thalmor and refuses to give up the worship of Talos has good reasons to join the Stormcloaks, even though it means defying others of his race.

My wood elf Primrose did not see the war as any of her business, so she tried to stay out of it the best she could. However, with the way the Empire tried to lop off her head as soon as she entered Skyrim, that made her strongly dislike and distrust the Empire. Whenever she saw the Imperials dragging off someone in binds, she imagined that they were going to decapitate them. After being in the same position, she could sympathize. So she always rescued those people. Seeing the Thalmor doing the same caused her to start rescuing those prisoners as well. In the end she never officially joined the Stormcloaks, but she was awfully sympathetic to them. She went to their camps to trade, or just to sleep in one of their tents, and always joined in on their side if she saw a Stormcloak in a fight.

I dont think the wood elves are part of the Aldmeri dominion by choice, unless he (or she) is an agent of some high ranking Thalmor (think Vader and Starkiller) I would think that any free Wood Elf would do what they can to actively undermine Thalmor authority, that being said however working with the Imperials doesnt necessarily mean that you are pro Thalmor.

If the ranger is a refugee. She/he'd absolutely loathe the dominion.

I can see him or her being bitter about the Empire completely ignoring the invasion of the thalmor against them and the mass slaughter of bosmer civilians that accompanied it.(Funny thing is, this isn't even the first time the empire's been dikes like this to the Bosmer)

But that doesn't mean he or she might not think they still have a good chance at defeating the Thalmor and that the Stormcloaks don't.

I'm not convinced a Bosmer - in general - would join either side tbh.
Niamh tries to stay out of joining anyone, it's not her fight and she has no love for either side.

A lot of Nords tend to have a dislike for all races in Skyrim, particularly Elves. So I think when I get around to starting the Civil War quests, I'll side with the Empire.

There is no logic in any race but a nord joining the stormcloaks.
Theres no reason for a NORD to join them, never mind anyone else.
Why would you turn on the empire that someone from skyrim started?!
Some of the nords ar'nt even racist or nasty.

They are racist to every single race but nords.
So why the hell would a bosmer join them?!
It'd be constant racism from every single person there.
It's a racist campaign Ulfrics using as a excuse to get to be high king.

Even if, for some reason, they hated the Aldmeri Dominion, they'd be more likely to go solo or imperial.
Imperiels accept all races, everyone is equal. And the Imperials ar'nt actually siding with the Thalmor. They were forced into signing the white gold concordat, to survive.
They are ready to fight them, when it comes.
So the most logical thing is to go imperial.
Because they could fight the thalmor, when the inevitable war comes.

The Cyrods feel the same way. They just don't say it to your face. Good luck getting them to back you up when your nation is in trouble if Cyrodiil isn't. Because they have such a wonderful track record of leaving the bosmer to die in their country(twice). Or leaving the dunmer to die in their country. Or leaving the orsimer to die. Or leaving the Redguards to die.

Because good for Cyrodiil good for the empire, right?

Someone has no idea what the stormcloaks are. Rather misinformed.

I think the decision seems pretty obvious. If my wood elf has a deep hatred for the Thalmor and opression. Then she would probably understand why the stormcloaks feel opressed by the empire and especially the Thalmor. And you need to build up relationships with the stormcloaks. Even if you are a high elf, the stormcloaks will trust you if you aid them.
