Would fallout make a good online game?

Online games are getting rather spiffy in terms of graphics. While Im sure it would take a high-end computer. Fallout 3 in itself feels like it could make a interesting free roaming online game.

Just to be clear im not talking about interplays attempt at a online game either :P

I think it could be fun sorta like a massive free roaming post apocolyptic version of multiplayer online shooters. Only instead of it being on small maps, it would be the entire waste. Make your own fun sorta thing. Could have different servers. One could be a "hardcoe" style where when your character dies he dies permanently (like diablo). One could be a more friendly online type one where other players cant always kill you whenever they feel like. probably some that lie in between.

Probably wont be able to use vats vs players either.

I dunno, the entire time ive been playing fallout 3 I kept feeling like I wouldnt bat an eye if I met another player out in the waste, that it would feel largely natural. I think it "could" be awesome.

Sure, why not. I've always said that the problem with multiplayer games is that you have the endure the company of other players, but... Online Fallout wouldn't be any worse than any other setting, I guess. :P

Doesn't Fallout 3 already feel like a mmorpg? Only thing that is missing is annoying "Ah kill U nuubz!!11" people.

Anyways I detest mmorpgs and most of the online shooters too, so my stand on this would obviously be negative. The market is swarming online games that all feel the same.

But on the other hand, I wouldn't buy it so I wouldn't mind it --- as long as it had no effect whatsoever on the singleplayer product (as in an individual product made by someone else than bethesda).

I agree most mmo's seem quite mundane, even if they had good concepts the execution was poor. Heck the only reason i stayed with WoW for so long is because of the ease of communication and networking that lacked so severely in any other mmo but as far as the actual gameplay went it wasnt impressive.

I'd love to see servers that support up to 16 people.
Think about it. Start a campaign with other players (expect weaker storyline...), roam through the wasteland.
RP servers and such? I'd buy it.
