In some unused dialogue for DB, Miraak would have said,

Plus, there's a model for Miraak which is unused,which is a younger version of him. I wonder why, if so, Bethesda cut this, seems very interesting.

I don't think we would have gone back in time. Seems a bit old hat, considering we did it for the MQ. I just figured that line referred to you seeing what Miraak's done to the population of Solstheim, the dragons he commands, and the dragons he killed back during his rebellion.

The younger model might ahve been used for when he regained power and almost escaped, but was just never implemented. He is also likely referencing the fact that he took control of most of Solstheim.
