Would like feedback on Wall spells - they seem very powerful

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:50 pm

I'm finding Wall spells as a destruction mage to be highly effective. I will find a chokepoint and then put 3 or more lines of walls and the NPCs will often stop instead of running through - which gives me time to plan/rest/regen.

If they do run through I keep raising walls and soon they die....

Anyone else finding walls highly effective?

Never worked for me. Enemies just clustered up in my face every encounter, and never stayed in the wall of fire long enough to take more than one second worth of damage from it.

Anyone else?

Playing as a Dark elf battlemage I tend to throw a wall of fire right at my feet for tougher fights. I have innate fire resist and my boots and shield are enchanted so I take pretty much 0 fire damage. I can literally stand in the wall if I want. Very handy for a couple times when I got swarmed by melee types.

They work very well for me (pre 1.2).

I tend to use them in conjunction with a companion. Let your companion take the aggro, then cast the wall directly beneath the enemy. The companion will hold the line and the wall gets to do its work. It dishes out moderate damage over time( 50 pts/sec) and can be repositioned without there being walls all over the place.

I like them: give it a go.
