I would like to turn into a Dragon!

I'll bet at that moment, when you turn into a Dragon, you would put down your lore-waving pen and fly around the world with a big smile on your face.

to be honest, the elder scrolls series is probably one of most action heavy rpg series in existence in terms of combat. that's what it feels like having played daggerfall, morrowind and oblivion (and redguard but that was a spinoff)

It is an action heavy RPG, but if Bethesda would implement features like this, it would eventually become Just Cause 3: Skyrim.

Thank you, but I believe I already did quite sufficiently.

Let me just say that the predecessor could hardly be considered anything but Action Adventure, comparable more to Dark Messiah than Planescape Torment, so, if I may ask, what makes you think Skyrim will abandon this route? (It is pretty decent in its category of game, mind you, so this may not necessarily be a bad thing. Time will show, I suppose, but already knowing the previous tendencies of the series, I wouldn't be so quick to deny it.)

that's quite the leap of logic wouldn't you say?

for one if they implemented it, it would probably be one of the hardest things to acquire in the game instead of putting it available early in the game.
and second, if implemented it'll also have it's drawbacks like a timer for how long you can be a dragon and a long cooldown or something akin to that effect.

like i said earlier, here's what how i would imagine it:

"your dragon form power could be something like this:

-able to fly

-biting for melee attacks (can't block while flying, you can't really use your wings to block in mid flight)

-as a dragon your only form of ranged attacks would be from dragon shouts (no magic and of course no bows)

-a timer for your dragon form, you could extend the timer by charging the shapeshifting dragon shout.

-physical power is a bit higher than your normal form but dragon shouts power would be unchanged as those are fueled by your soul not your body. "

You may be right, but I hope that Skyrim will primarily be an RPG, not an open-world action game. If it turns out to be vice versa, I would rather play GTA.

While I don't really like the idea of being able to turn into a dragon at anytime, I'm sure there will be a major boss battle at the end of the main quest. I would be cool, if either right before or after that boss fight you got the ability to become a dragon. It would save time on traveling, allow you to see the entire game world from a new perspective, and it would be a great reward for saving Nirn...again! As with any other spell/potion, or any rpg elements...if you don't like it don't use it. Simple as that. And FYI...Todd said you won't be riding dragons, he didn't say you couldn't turn into them.

Not against the TES lore........?........ The last person to turn into a dragon ( Akatosh ) was Martin. after that the amulet of kings was gone, so probably noone can become dragon again.

He did not turn into a dragon, he summoned the avatar of Akatosh, who is an Aedra. Who looks like a dragon.
Turning into a dragon is not against TES lore and anyone who states it is is simply wrong.

"Since that time the cat-folk have tried to become the Dragons. Tosh Raka is the first to succeed. He is the largest Dragon in the world, orange and black, and he has very many new ideas."
From: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mysterious_Akavir.

Also, according to lore dragons can shapeshift.
So who is to say that absorbing a dragon soul, wich we know will give us dragon powers, will not also grant the shapeshifting power to turn into one?

That being said, I dont think we are going to be able to turn into a dragon in the game.
But turning into a dragon is possible according to established lore.

this dragon seemed reasonable enough (cyrus was the one who initiated combat afterall), i'd like to see more like him in skyrim.

ill grant its an entertaining idea but honestly it won't fit. in my honest opinion there is nothing that could explain it maybe a powerful mage can accomplish this but even that is highly unlikely. the problems with implementing highly exceed what people may think thus it would push the game back to a later release date. im sure none of us want that now do we.

though it may be in entertaining idea it simply wouldn't fit in after all your dragon-born what more could you possibly want. there simply is no benefit in this in the slightest regard. besides its more Gratifying to kill one as a human anyway because in all honesty the dragon has the advantage of going anywhere making it more of a game play experience as opposed to having even playing fields... even playing fields get exceedingly dull in a short time. do you not agree?

There are two kinds of people that want to turn into/ride dragons.

Dragon fetishists (think furry's but with dragons) and kids who don't understand the lore and or don't care for it anyway.

it doesn't really have anything to do with mastery of conventional magic but more of the dragon language.
yes it's very unlikely to happen but we'll still pitch that idea to them, it's their decision to make if they want to implement it or not. a delay doesn't bother me really, as long as it doesn't reach duke nukem's style of delays.
if it was implemented, you can be sure it would be hard to acquire for one, and secondly there's probably going to have disadvantages such as a time limit and a long cooldown.

how cute.

we've already established that a lore friendly way to shapeshift into a dragon is possible to exist.

wether it is implemented or not is up to the developers, i won't hold it against them if it's not in as i understand the difficulties of its implementation.

so let's stop with the derogatory remarks targeted at the people who'd like such a feature, shall we?

I, actually, agree :). There is no too much benefit, besides just a wish. Because this would be such a major event, if implemented, it should be very well balanced and done, such as new lore books must be written about unknown events in the past, morphing has to be implemented, reaction of other NPCs, and so on, and so forth. So, if it is not done already, it may be better just to leave it as it is...

PS. I also want the game to be released in time!!! :) (Heh, I think sometimes, that I want too much...)

I didn't say anything derogatory. There are dragon fetishists who want it for that reason and I didn't say anything bad about the people who want it for the "cool" factor except that it isn't very likely to happen because of the way the story is told.

It's more likely we will have the option to become a ruler or king than it is a dragon.
