Would it be possible to make a mod that...

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:05 pm

It always bugged me that beds have absolutely no use in this game since camping out is just as effective. I figured that it would make sense that leveling up should require you to go find a bed, at least.

How easy/hard would it be to make something like this?

You mean like in Oblivion? Maybe, but I don't know of any.

With the Necessities of Morrowind mod beds suddenly become very useful. If you don't sleep you get fatigued. And Morrowind Comes Alive has a certain feature that makes beds, well, not really necessary, but fun... :D

You don't need a mod for that just don't camp out to level up.

That would be problematic if he'd want to rest somewhere to restore health and magicka without levelling up.

I don't think you're quite getting the point...

I think there may be a way. I'll see what I can do and upload for ya when I'm done, assuming I'm right. ^_^

Edit: Apparently, I was wrong. While there is an EnableRestMenu function, there does not seem to be a DisableRestMenu function.
Hopefully, I'll come up with something else, though.

I have come up with another solution that should work, though it would require MWSE's GetBase functions, but it's the closest thing to what you want that I think is possible:

Basically, you would still have to go to the level-up screen and such when you are at the point of leveling, but the new changes to your attributes, magicka, and health would not come into effect until you rest in a bed.

:hugs:

I'll make this, since I like the idea myself, and anyone who wants to use it will be able to find it at PES when I complete it.

Hey Linora. Can you make so you have to find a partner before sleeping. The greatest magic happens when your two in the bed, right?

Lol, no. Though there are mods that add such "magic" to Morrowind, I believe one is called "The Romance Mod" or something like that.

OK! I can now confirm 100% that this mod is possible once I add a way to keep track of multiple levels in between bed-resting. ^_^

A thread shall be posted later when I release a beta version, if that turns out to have no bugs I'll then upload the mod to PES. :)

Oh, and Verm1n you are welcome to use my script once it's done as a base if you wish to make such a mod yourself.

Spear and agility.

Be careful playing with leveling so as not to mess with things, especially enchantments too much. A simple before-menumode and after, find difference, store should work. But make sure to add that to the value in case they level twice in the wild between beds.

Thanks for the heads up. That's basically the reason it's not quite done. I'm making 100% sure the storing between levels works properly. ;)

I'm gonna make a mod that gives the opportunity to spoon. Spooning is a crucial part of life, doesn't matter if its in-game or
in real life, its something you have to do. I want to spoon with someone! Perhaps that girls in Balmora is up for the task, Drarayne Thelas
yeah she's hot.

By the way, good luck to you Linora, I hope you release soon so I get to able to play around with the script. :)

Sweet...

Though, again I take it that this mod requires a script enhancer?

Sorry, I missed your post(s)! :P

As I said in my reply to your PM:

It requires MWSE (the xGetBase functions to be specific) in order to accurately keep track of the base attributes of the original leveling system. For things like Health, Magicka, and Fatigue we have the ModCurrent functions, but not for attributes.

Lastly, I'm still working out a few kinks so it should be sharable this weekend, I'd imagine. :woot:

I finally broke down and downloaded MSWE... so, I'll test it out when I can.

Pisses me off because, well... I found a bunch of mods that look like they may be neat, which means taking MORE time to go back and update my mod list.

So, I finally realized that MGE, which I've been using for months, contains MWSE.

 Haha! Well at least now you won't need to worry about that so much. :hugs:

And an update for everyone else, since BTB already knows:

Still working on this mod, just taking a bit longer due to a bug I haven't been able to find yet. ( And not having much time to find it with test-stuff stuff going on in RL. )

Ok, yeah, that was awful, I know.

I hear you, there. I've worked 12-hour shifts for the last eight days. The first seven were day shifts... the eighth was a graveyard.

Needless to say, my internal clock is hosed o.o

The irony is that my Morrowind character probably gets more sleep than I do :P
