The Box set comes with a patched FO1 that allows you infinite time once you find the water chip. The best way to describe the originals are hard to learn easy to master.

What I dont like about them, which didnt bother me when I played them first because modern games are so much better (except for starcraft the only perfect game), was the lack of balance and polish.

The game even patched is full of bugs and the stat system is terribly unbalanced, int is godly charisma is worthless I mean worthless, followers are liabilities that die quicker then terran marines, ohhh and half the stats in the game are microscopically useful (Repair, Outdoorsman, Doctor/Firstaid)

Outdoorsman is quite important skill, it determines how likely you will be ambushed in case of random encounter. With higher skill you can avoid encounters if you want. Did you even try using doctor and first aid, those will shorten up healing times a lot when combined rest, that saves lot of stimpacks. Doctor will also allow healing of crippled limbs, try walking on world map with both legs crippled and notice how much it affects travel times. Plenty of skill will also allow certain quite special dialogue options.

I am now trying to get my outdoorsman up so I can get the Doctor Who Random Encounter. (I am a huge Doctor Who Fan)

Play Fallout 2 first. It's much more immediately engaging and interesting than the first Fallout was.

Fallout 3 is my favorite game of all time. I just beat F2 today (After beating the first one a few days ago). They're pretty fun but really draining especially the second one.
