Would that be worth it?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:53 am

I'm sick and tired of Xbox Live and Microsoft, I would post reasons but it would probably take a few years to type all of them. Anyway, I've been thinking about selling my Xbox 360, along with all the games, controllers, and accessories on eBay and buying a PS3, and I'm wondering if you guys think it'd worth selling all of it and moving to PS3, or if I should just stay on with the 360..

Oh and also have a question, on gamestop there's a PS3 slim 120gb for 300$, but there's also a PS3 slim 160gb for 300$, why would they sell 40 more gigs for no extra cost?

Oh and please, please, please don't start a console war, I'm not asking for which is better, I'm just asking for reasons why I should move to PS3.

I have no idea if this is right or not, but I would guess the 120 and 160 versions are from different generations.

Edit: On the subject, unless you have hardly any games or accessories for the 360, I'd keep it, since you'll make a massive loss by trading it all in.

Eh, PS3's having a lot of problems right now, but they should be resolved soon.

I think you should switch, why, well:

Free PSN and online play
A full internet player that can play videos and such
Exclusives like Uncharted, and Resistance
PlayStation Move which is actually pretty good
Built in WiFi
and much more

I think you should definitely keep all of your games and accessories (including your hard drive), so if you ever do decide to switch back to the 360, or you decide to get the next generation Xbox in a few years and it winds up being backwards compatible, then you wont be kicking yourself so selling all of your games.

As for selling the console itself, well, since your console is used you're already at a disadvantage because people have gotten smarter about avoiding used Xboxs because of the risk of buying a bricked one that can't connect to Xbox Live because Microsoft banned it. And if your Xbox is first generation and not a Xbox 360 S you're at a bigger disadvantage. No matter what though you'll still wind up having to pay a large amount of money to cover the rest of the cost of the PS3, and with that money you could get a handful of new games for the Xbox.

So, I feel you should just stick to your current console unless you have more of a beef with the selection of games on the console than you do with Microsoft. Because selling the console just because you don't like Microsoft or Xbox Live serves no purpose other than losing you a lot of the money you invested in the console over the years.

...Believe it or not that's the same reason I opened it.

I personally don't have any recommendations (I only have a PS3), but if you do go for the PS3, get the 160gb slim version. It's just flat-out better than the 120gb version... and even more efficient in power usage (subsequently making it even less likely than the 120gb version to break).

The PS3 has basically no games. Even though online is free, you can't play anything online.

Actually, since most games these days are multiplatform, the PS3 has plenty of games in comparison to the 360. The PS3 also has more exclusives... and that's not even considering that half of the 360's exclusives are actually PC games, as well.

It depends, there were two different 120GB models. The original Slim (CECH-20xxA) whose RSX was on a 65nm process, where as the later 120GB (CECH-21xxA) was 40nm just like all current models.

Still safer to just go with a brand new 160GB if you're gonna be spending the $300.

The PSN is free but its down at the moment.

If you don't mind paying for Live yearly then stick with it. I mean I don't like to pay for it and I still do....

Another reason I wanna get a PS3 is the fact that the PS3 version of L.A. Noire will be on a single disc and will have exclusive content.

That's how it was a year after launch, it's much better now.

And I have found that I enjoy the PS3 exclusives a lot more than the 360 exclusives.

3D Dot Game Heroes
Demon's Souls
God of War III
Heavenly Sword
Heavy Rain
Killzone 2 and 3
The Last Guardian (to be released)
Uncharted

Really the only exclusive that the 360 has that I enjoy is Gears of War.

I would have gotten a PS3 if it had not been my 10 year old little brother begging my mom for an Xbox solely for the very reason of CoD. PSN is free!

All of the games we have, besides the Kinect, are cross-platform.

Reasons Why?
Free Online
Uncharted
Killzone
Resistance
Infamous
Built in WiFi
Larger Memory Capacity
Built in Blu-Ray

Reason Not Too
No Fable
No Cool Indie Games

But seriously, dont switch until the whole PSN issue is resolved.

Meh. It's really your choice. Do you like PS3 exclusives more or 360? That's really what it comes down to. Also do more of your friends have a 360 or do more have a PS3? For mp purposes.

Just hope PSN doesn't get hacked again.
