Slavery is just a small part of the Legion. They also enlighten peoples minds, Caesar is a very intelligent man and he could bring back the glory of ancient Rome. Not to mention if people willing joined the Legion, after a while they wouldn't need slaves any longer and people would be safe from the savages of the wasteland.

The problem being the Legion will never get enough volunteers to function because it's a horrible, horrible option and almost everyone in the gameworld recognizes that.

You'll notice refugees in the Mojave only run one direction. Away from the Legion.

Thats some very pie in the sky optimism there. Caesar is smart but he does not enlighten anyone. When he dies, his Hyenas (the men under him) will be set loose on to the wasteland. I did not see anyone, painting, rebuilding, writing poetry or discussing philosophy. Just enslaving and killing. Sure they could be but I need to see that.

Caesar himself talked about what he could do if he had the resouces of the NCR. Pretty much take over everything.

I still say no.Rome fell for a reason, if it was so great it should had never fell to begin with. If I had to chose between the NCR and Legion, to really take over New Vegas, I chose NCR, the way they run things, reminds me of how modern day countries are run.But that's just what I think.

I agree with gillyman , id rather have the Legion other than the damn NCR, i hate those guys all they say is "blah blah blah i want nucular winter blah" then the whine when you kill an out post or turn the very sun on them, if you think about it the Legion is a better choice despite the few flaws it has, unlike the corrupt NCR, also you should play the game a a girl and join the Legion its pretty funny when they are all "wtf your a girl?!"

Pointless in discussing Legion really, developers did a major fail in their design.
All we can do is wait for a Legion DLC "if" there is one.

Anyway: Legion are not really good people, they're lawful evil, their lands are built on the blood sweat and tears of slaves and will keep doing to for centuries.
But I support them because they can finally unite the wasteland under one banner, force everyone to be part of the Legion society or be killed.
Once that is done they can start rebuilding the world in peace.
It won't be pretty but it's a necessary evil in our history, and in the end something beautiful will blossom out of it.

I'm not saying that at all - just trying to point out how easy it can be to rationalize evil acts.

I'm still undecided about the Legion, and will be until we see how slaves are treated in Legion territory.

For example, IIRC In ancient Rome slaves were treated far better than African slaves in America. Their masters often treated them extremely well, and they were able to buy their freedom, and gain limited Roman citizenship. If freed then any children they had became full citizens. Now, the slaves in game are treated poorly, yes. But its the Legion's army, and they're gearing up for war. They aren't going to let their slaves slack when the fate of a battle depends on them.

Also, not all women become slaves. Some become part of a woman only priest caste that raises the children. I don't think it says in game what happens to Women born into the Legion, but I doubt a Legionary is going to let his daughter be a slave.

6. Wrong. From what I gleaned Arizona (that is the state the legion holds, yes?) was in such a good shape that the tribals could spend energy on figthing each other rather then struggling to for survival. And know he is aiming at one of the more prosperous regions.


And finaly to any one who speaks about the "glory of Rome": study history. If that doesnt help, study socialism and re-study history.
