Would wants "GOD mode"?

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 11:00 am

As the title says. Would you like to see "GOD Mode" in this or any other game? If you are as old as me, you certainly remember cheat codes in almost all games. Some unlockable, some available from the get-go. I understand that game companies want you to play the games the way they are designed. I can understand that, but maybe after you beat the game, give you the option to adjust anything you want. Want all perks? turn it on, want all stats at 100? ok turn it on, want GOD mode? ok turn it on, want all weapons? ok turn it on, want unlimited ammo? ok turn it on. After I beat Tony Hawk games I loved playing around with moon physics and unlimited grinds etc... Same with the GTA Series. I had a blast and would have a blast with many unlocks in Fallout. Just be a beast from the get-go and destroy all in my path MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I would love to see this option come back in more games. How about you?

p.s. Id even pay a few bucks for the option, Are you listening game companies?

TGM

Excellent for mod testing, and preventing unintentional deaths when FPS falls below 5 during intense combat (TGM -> Duck and Cover -> TGM -> Wait for FPS to stabilize again)

The game itself with level cap 50 and OWB's perks is god mode enough :teehee:

But no, it's boring. Sometimes i may use "tgm", "kill" or "killall" when i get pissed off, but always reload and do it again fairly ^_^

I always cap my characters early on by just removing all gained experience. In Fallout 3, I have never reached level 30. My most advanced character was level 24, after 190 hours of play :P

In New Vegas, my most advanced character was level 42 before I removed her due to lack of things to do.

I finished the game yesterday with my latest character, 81 hours, level 37, 3 skills maxed, one 75+ two others at 60 something, rest at inital with random skillbooks (without comprehension). Skill point gain is still too high, need to lower it some more, but i could increase xp gain a little.

Not really. It's already possible to be so godly you have to WORK to get some semblence of balance or challenge back.

On the other hand.

I've never been opposed to some sort of cheat code menu or options to turn on cheats before. I thought RDR and GTA IV did a good job of keeping them out of sight but still having them available. Of coarse RDR's and GTA IV's expansions cheats were more fun and or creative than base GTA IV.

To the OP, there's always mods or the option of changing values yourself. As long as you don't play very hard+hardcoe mode though it's hard for me to see that you want even more power. It's fully possible to max out all Skills easy even without skill books and possibly even SPECIAL. Perks are the only thing you won't get all of without modding. But it is what it is.

Arwen's mod allows you to reduce the XP gains (much like the swift learner perk only it lowers the multiplier) to 1/4th of the original gains, or other percentages. Works pretty well to slow down the leveling up. :)

TDM, the demi-god mode is even better for would-be-cheaters. You are still immortal but still loose ammo and stuff. :disguise:

Not really. I don't find the idea of having an arrogant personality and a feral personality fighting inside me all the time to be fun.

So what exactly is God Mode? Not lose health, have all powerful weapons, what?

It varies, but usually just immortality. "TGM" console command in Bethesda's games (in this context including New Vegas) also means that you have infinite ammo and AP.

In older, not so realistic games there often were items that granted invulnerability temporarily.

:lmao:

Just remebered that the Doom3 expansion had the artifact that when fully powered offered immortality. And it was required later in Hell to survive some of the larger demon hordes. Something like that might work in Fallout, of course replacing "demonic artifact" with "SCIENCE! contraption" :hehe:

Incidentally, PC users, Obsidian added "TDM" which is demi-god mode. It let us capture better footage, as regular god mode gave you unlimited ammo/no reloading. :)

It always killed me that there were no cheat codes for the console versions of TES and Fallout. I always play the first playthrough cheat free, but sometimes I just want to break free and cause mayhem (without saving of course), this is especially true in open world games like TES and Fallout.

I like how Rockstar Games handles their cheats. All you really need to do is disable achievements/trophies when a cheat is activated and flag the save game file the same way so that if a person wants to do a cheat playthough so that can't be used to gain unfair trophies/achievements.

I would like you I used to love getting on once and a while and just walk around causing tons of mayhem, two of my favorite games that I always did it in was 007: Goldeny Eye (N64), Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction (PS2)

They could just do what these games did, when cheat codes were on there was no saving or story progress saved. Companies could do all that and with the inclusion of Achievements and Trophy's they could be turned off and unobtainable while codes are activated. This would be fine with me as I would just want to roam the wastes and take everything on, more so if they would also allow you to spawn enemies of your choosing.

You don't need cheats to bring doom on all who stand in your way, just a lot of explosives

To the OP you can always use this exploit to get a demi god stats character http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_exploits . There is also a video guide on youtube, several actually that will walk you through it. I am still using it as of the latest patch although the time it takes to do it now without the mantis exp glitch (patched) is alot. I am not ashamed that I had my kids put in some time to get it there but once its done and you have it saved you basically have a pre-made character ready to kick ass straight out of Goodsprings; plus you have total character build options to change once you decide to leave GS.

You shouldn't need a 'God Mode'. Stick to one or two weapon types. There is something to take out everyone.
