would you agree that skyrim is still buggy?

Post » Tue Jul 09, 2013 8:14 am

recently my imperial female character joined the stormcloaks and that's when the crashes and freezes started for me (i did post in the hardware and software sub formum) the only time it froze on me is when i was helping take over fort neugrad, im not complaining skyrim is a great game just still a little buggy at times, today i even saw a mammoth floating in the air (i wasn't fast enough to get a screenshot i went to hit f12 and when i looked again the mammoth was on the ground)

Nearly every game has bugs of some point.. it comes with how program heavy games are now compared to my Atari 2600.. then again even that had glitches...

Yes, even after 1.9 and all the unofficial patches... I still encounter bugs that annoy the hell out of me.

They're always buggy to a various extent, and it's only going to increase as the game engine and its systems grow increasingly complex and require more and more lines of code. A lot of problems can be fixed by using the unofficial patch mods.

Am I to take that as jealousy? Seriously, almost all bugs can be avoided if you know what you're doing.

I wasn't aware the game was terribly buggy. Computers do get clogged up with mess if they are not cleaned up sometimes. Starting playing a game after a reboot seems to avoid most so-called bugs, it also depends how stable the computer is configured as well.

I would, if i didn't use the unofficial patches :hehe:

Well, it's no miracle cure, there's still many left. And heavy mod use can cause more

Not really. Skyrim does have major bugs in it (Forsworn Conspiracy among others), but for a game of this scale I'd say Skyrim is pretty polished as it is. I didn't personally even use the unofficial patches until I got fed up with aforementioned Forsworn quest one day.

And most bugs can be avoided with reloading and by using a bit of brain.

Still does not mean you have to roll over and die and accept it, thats whats wrong with people these days, far too passive, thats why filthy rich organisations and people get away with rip offs and all people do is moan about it.

Yes! Basically unplayable without the Unofficial Patches.
Which is surreal if you think about it.

Beth should be embarrassed...
They have barely scratched the surface of things that need fixing, with their Official patches!

Sadly, many many errors are simple typos and blunders with numbers/lists etc.
Things like Ebony armor being affected by Light perks, ie. 'stupid' mistakes...
Errors that never should have occurred in the first place but still have yet to be repaired with Official patches.
Thousands of them...

The amount and severity of the bugs depends on a lot of factors. The console, the hardware and software of the computer, the different mods used, the base-game itself and the way the game has been played(I.e. the order of quests, how the game is saved, inventory managment and "tidying".
First of all: An Elder Scrolls game will never be bug-free
That's an illusion. I will not get into the debate of how many bugs we should tolerate from an open world game like this.
Except from being somewhat annoyed, me personally haven't been bothered too much to loose sleep. First of all I haven't had much bugs except from a misc quest or two that didn't work. And yes that's very annoying especially when it's a word-wall or reward that doesn't work like it should.
I think mods that conflicts are often the case. It seem to me that people tend to install mods way to early right after the game is released, instead of waiting for a while for the modders and devs to catch up.
When that is said I know there are bugs in the vanilla game. Some of them more annoying than others. I have used the unofficial skyrim patch and it fixed a lot of things but not everything.
I had too much loot in containers, barrels and houses all over Skyrim. In addition the amount of weapons in dungeons after battles started to pile up. All of this made the game buggier. And I know my gameplay was a big part of the problem. So I'm not making excuses for Bethesda, their games need to be less buggier, esp when it comes to quests, but at the same time one can't have the freedom to use every streetcorner as a storeroom and at the same time expect the game to run smooth. Balance is important

Sorry double post.
Off-topic For one strange reason I could not see that I had replied and I could not get into the forums either. Talking about bugs, my HTC ONE S has started to behave strange lately

And the Forums just locked up solid on me too, just now (so it's not your HTC ONE S).

Until the most recent patch, I would have said no. However, I resumed playing yesterday for the first time in months and in a span of 5 hours, I froze during loading and/or entering a building 4 times. I'm accumulated probably 4 freezes total before that point.

I'm not sure that was the point he was trying to make. I think, maybe, that he was pointing out that this is not unique to Skyrim. So many people talk about Skyrim's problems (and there are many) as though these problems originated with Skyrim, that they were brand-new with this game.

The lack of awareness of the series' history can get frustrating at times (I know it occasionally does for me). It makes some of us want to shout, "The Elder Scrolls didn't start with Skyrim!" Some of this may be due to the fact that for some people here, Skyrim is their first game. They don't realize that many of the things they talk about are common to all the games.

So I think it is possible that michaelpk was not being apathetic but was merely pointing out that there are other games in the series besides Skyrim. And they all have this problem. In my opinion it would be more correct to phrase this debate as: "Why are the Elder Scrolls games so buggy?" not "Why is Skyrim so buggy?"

That is the most worthless Skyrim advice I have ever heard.

The "trick" is to "avoid them"?

How is the TC supposed to avoid game freezes?

The only "trick" to avoiding Skyrim bugs is to turn off the game and go do something else.

The bugs are many, and unpredicatable. There is no "avoiding" them.
