simple question, would you call yourself out of shape?

I certainly think I am out of shape.. I guess my metabolism just isn't as fast as it was in my teenage years, my life style isn't that different than when I was in my late teens, but after trying to put on a pair of dress pants for a job interview this morning i realized just how much weight i have put on in the past few years..

I'm kinda half n half, I'm not in the best shape but I'm not so out of shape I need a wheelchair to get around.

I'm perhaps too skinny, but when I think to myself "at least I can still run", I feel better. For the most part, I wouldn't consider myself out of shape.

Yeah, though I'm in better shape than I've been for a while, so... but am I in shape? No, I don't think so. I don't consider myself to be completely out of shape either though.

im not fat, and people refer to me as slim (although i think its my cloths that make me look slim more than any thing) but i weigh 210. the weight it irrelevent, i don't exercise at all and i eat nothing but junk food for the last year and a half. the healthiest stuff i eat is a salad with cheese and ranch on it or a sub sandwhich with ham, cheese and ranch.

last time i tried running i could barely do a mile with out feeling like i was going to pass out.

I'm not overweight or anything but I don't work out so I guess I'm not in shape but I'm not out of shape.

Somewhere in between? I'm generally sport-averse, which doesn't help. But I used to go swimming regularly not so long ago, so I haven't fallen out of shape yet.

How did your job interview go?

Yes I'm out of shape, not that I'm overweight 5'11 and 165lb but I just tried getting back into exercising at the start of the week and I've hurt like hell since. Got to make another go at it tomorrow.

I have been severely out of shape several times in the past. But right now I'm actually down to my late-teens, early-20's weight.

I don't have a rigorous exercise regimen, though. It has a lot to do with my mental attitude now, which is more positive than in the past. I walk 30 miles a week. I also do nearly all of the chores in my household, which burns off a few more calories.

Yeah. I'm underweight and don't exercise, so I have very little strength and stamina.

Absolutely out of shape. There is sadly not many exercises I can do with my back being the way it is. I go for short walks in the late spring/ all summer/early fall with my wife/daughters, but 5 months of 1-3 15 minute walks a week doesn't exactly do much for ones body when the other 7 months are spent doing nothing but sitting around the house. To poor to afford a treadmill or stationary cycle or I'd go that route. It is honestly a small miracle that I'm not overweight, and quite frankly a LARGE miracle that I managed to lose the 100lbs of fat that I had accumulated in the initial few years after my accident.

Not overweight, but definitely out of shape. I need to start hitting the gym again - and quit smoking. :/

Yes and no.

I'm not as out-of-shape as I used to be and I'm doing something about it. I've been slacking the past few weeks, though.

Considering my BMI is ~23 (where it should be) and I can do exercises well enough, I'd say I'm in shape. However, I probably cannot do a 6hr bike ride atm, due to winter and school being especially brutal.

Out of shape? Yeah. Age and health have taken their toll on my ability exercise in any meaningful way. About the only thing I have going for me is a very healthy diet, or rather I eat very little that is overtly unhealthy. No sweets beyond sugar-free jellies and preserves with breakfast. No snack foods. No soda or alcohol. No smokings. Sane soups for lunch. Salads with lots of veggies for supper. Almost no "splurge" meals. I weight 145lbs at the moment, which is 5-10lbs more than I'd like to be but not considered obese for my height.

I was an off-again on-again jogger until my knees gave out late November 2008. (I babied them to the point where by 2013 I could again walk "practical" distances with only mild discomfort, so long as I don't over-stress them.)

On weekdays when I don't work or have plans I get up at 7 AM jog for 15 minutes head down to the gym for the next hour and a half and then at 3 pm I jog for another 15 minutes I alternate every other day to give my knees a rest from the jogging its killer on them. saterday are lower body work outs and sundays are my upper body workouts. So no I don't think I'm out of shape.

I chose "out of shape" but I'm really not as bad as I could be. I am 25lbs over weight, but I work out a lot and practice Tai Chi every day so I'm not as stiff as I would be with my arthritus in the knees.

Forget doing "snake creeps down" in tai chi though, that isn't gonna happen LOL!

I could probably crush a coconut between my thighs due to cycling everywhere I go but would be lucky to fight my way out of a wet paper bag. I've neglected my upper body over the years. (Though I have the classic "V" shape, mostly. A little pudge in the middle but not much. I'm within my weight for my age/height etc.)

P.S.

I'd say overall I'm reasonably in shape considering...

P.P.S

Quitting smoking did wonders though!!!

Yeah, I stopped smoking a while back. I've cheated a few times here and there, but for 98% of the time I've been smoke free for I'd say going on 9 months now, and I breathe a hell of a lot better then I
used to.

I'm not overweight (skinny actually) but I'm definitely not healthy. I try to build up the willpower to do pushups now and then. I'm playing table tennis during breaks at work. When it gets warmer out I might start jogging in the mornings. And my cat insists on having me chase him up and down the stairs. Hopefully these things help.

It depends. I'm probably reasonably healthy as I do 40 minutes' fairly intense exercise three or four times a week and keep my average calorie intake (including booze!) under 2,000, but my body resolutely insists on being two stone overweight, most of which is on my waist, annoyingly.

But other than my metabolic shenanigans, I guess I could drink slightly less than I do. Otherwise, I seem to be fairly fit and I eat lots of vegetables.

Depends what constitutes out of shape, I'm skinny and I've barely got the strength to lift my ps4 controller (figuratively). But I have good stamina and regularly play sports (only for recreational purposes though).

January 30th was my last day as a smoker. I've had a couple, "damn, I want a smoke" moments but resisted. I'm glad I did. Just 1, and I'd beat myself up for weeks over it. (Nobody guilt trips me like I do myself.)

I too noticed a big improvement with breathing while cycling. I still get winded, but I'm not choking on so much mucus now. I, by accident, discovered something I don't recommend!!!! But I was gargling with salt water after a dentist appointment and inhaled some. When I coughed it back up, what came up with it was freaking nasty!! Now, I gargle, but I've learned how to allow the water into my lungs, gargling in there (by exhaling) and I continue to spit up black crap, but damn, I can breath sooooo much better after doing it.
